cheeto
quick heads up. Before going through the hassle of resting the firmware, i formatted the SD and reinstalled the MODEM MANAGER. I'm now getting the TTY!!!! /dev/ttyUSB0 /dev/ttyUSB1 /dev/ttyUSB2 I still don't know what was the cause of the problem. No lesson learned. I'll use it tomorrow and see if it starts acting up again. I'll keep you updated. Cheers!
cheeto
ok, well i have some bad news... After finally seeing that my tty's were reappearing, i was HAPPPPPY. But that was short lived. I turned off my nano and returned a couple of hours later and once again my TTYs are not showing up anymore. Formatted my SD again, and still no TTY. I think there is a bug in this module. Is anyone else have issues with it? Thanks

Is anyone else have issues with it? Thanks I do not think this is a problem with the module. This is either a power problem, user error or some problem deeper in the pineapple. Take a look at the source code on my GitHub, the TTY output is just an ls command.
cheeto
i just now re-installed the latest firmware, Reinstalled the modem manager, this time in the internal memory. It's now reading the tty. I'm going to restart the nano a few times to see if works. keep u posted.
cheeto
results: so after re-installing the modem module I rebooted the nano 2 times and did 1 cold boot. IT WORKED BUTTTTT on the 4th try I'm now getting the "No TTYs Found." message. Just a side not, the nano nor the 3G device were even touched/moved during these test. I'm running out of ideas....... OK, I'm going to remove the 3 dongle's memory card. Maybe that's screwing it up. keep u posted
cheeto
I would really like to say that it's working but it's not. I removed the 3G modem's memory - didn't work Connected the Nano to a different computer, didn't work.
Foxtrot
Again, I'm 99% sure this isn't a problem with the module. Generate another debug report and attach it here, as well as the output of the "lsusb" command.
cheeto
i downgraded the firmware to the previous version but got the same results. This time however i video captured the problem. Please excuse the watermark on the video. (trial soft) video file I also installed the dependencies but it's still dead.. debug.log Edited November 13, 2016 by cheeto
Foxtrot
First of all, you are not inputting a lot of the settings it needs. You need to chose a VID:PID and fill out the text box, you need to select the protocol? Secondly, the reason it might not pop up straight away is because you just rebooted the pineapple. Wait a few seconds for the modem to initialise (I have to wait for mine to flash blue) and then refresh the information.
cheeto
when i 1st got it to run i never put a VID:PID and it did connect, BTW, how can i know where to get a vid;pid. I think this has nothing to do with it, but hey i could be wrong, in fact, i hope i am. 2nd, I have had the nano on for almost 2 hours and i did use the refresh button but it's still not working,. cheeto
For anyone looking to get their VID:PID for their 3g dongles, simply go to this tutorial: https://support.shippingeasy.com/hc/en-us/articles/203086919-How-to-Find-the-Vendor-ID-VID-and-Product-ID-PID-for-my-USB-scale-Applet-Integration- i did yet another factory reset and put the VID AND PID. Seems to be working..... But i'm I'm still testing....... keeping my fingers crossed -*-*-*-*-*--*-*--*-*-*-* update *--*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*-*-*- I'm putting this thing to the test. IT WORKS! You need to read the information pop up in the module. Click the "ℹ".

b0N3z
@Foxtrot do you have any recommendations on what type of usb modem to get that will work with the pineapple out of the box?

Unfortunately I can't recommend one in good faith, it has been quite a while since I played with them. I would recommend reading what works with OpenWRT in general however.
DanteAllegri
In the new firmware 2.6.0 an 2.6.1 the Modem Manager doesn't work. The dependencies cannot be installed. I saw that comgt and uqmi cannot be installed
