Foxtrot
This is "Modem Manager", a module created to allow connection to the internet via 3G and 4G USB modems. How to use this module: This module currently only works for modems with Serial Interfaces and Abstract Control Modems (ACM). You can read about modems with serial interfaces here. Support for modems with NCM and QMI may be added at a later date. It's hard for me to implement this support without these types of modems, so if you have a QMI modem please feel free to test some configurations and share your experience. You may also need to reboot your pineapple after setting up your modem in the module. This is to allow the 'usbserial' kernel module to be loaded with the correct VID:PID of your modem. Version 1.1 is out. Edited October 31, 2016 by Foxtrot

I've been really busy with applying to Universities recently, and balancing real life stuff with writing modules, so the module has dropped down my responsibilities list a little. I also don't have access to a 3G modem anymore, making it really hard for me to see if anything works or not. So here's the deal: I've published all the code I have written so far to a GitHub repo so that anyone with the equipment can pull the module, test it (please!) and make additions if they wish. Instructions to install the module are listed in the "README.md" file, and most of the code is commented. Sorry for not being able to spend more time on the module, I understand that a few of you are waiting on it. Hopefully this will speed things up as again, I don't have a modem to test with anymore. Disregard that, I cook socks. I went and bought a modem and finished this up. 1.1 is on the modem manager now. cheeto
Hey guys, I love this module but something came up with it. maybe a bug or something. It won't connect anymore. :( I tried to use it today and I'm getting an error "no ttys found". I tried re-installing the module but I'm getting the same error. The 3G dongle (E173) works perfecty fine when i connect directly to my laptop. So the problem is not the 3g dongle. Anyone else have this issue? Foxtrot
Hi cheeto, Unfortunately, that information isn't really useful. I'd like you to follow these steps: Navigate to the help page From the Feedback and Support section, click the button to download the debug file Wait as the debug file is generated. Once complete, save the file to your computer Attach the file to a reply in this thread.

cheeto
Hey Foxtrot. Sorry man but am i supposed to ssh into the nano and type: uci show network.wan2 ?? I went to the network menu but i don't see to many options there.... Would you like to connect to my pc via Teamviewer? We can save a million hours. Perhaps if i reset the nano's firmware it might work but I think it's the real remedy for the bug. Sooner or later someone will have the same issue. Let me know whats easier 4 u. Foxtrot
Hey, Sorry, but id have to decline your TeamViewer offer, unfortunately I don't have the time. Yes, you need to execute those commands over SSH. You can google a guide to SSH, it's fairly simple.
cheeto
no worries about Teamviewer, i understand. Regarding the 1st command: uci show network.wan2 I'm getting an error: root@Pineapple:~# uci show network.wan2 uci: Entry not found BUT if i do this instead: uci show I get a huge reading. I posted it on pastebin below: (i changed all my credentials since this command shows everything) http://pastebin.com/8i2Rhav0 As for the 2nd command: uci show network.wan2 i simply get this error message: root@Pineapple:~# cat/etc/modules.d/60-usb-serial -ash: cat/etc/modules.d/60-usb-serial: not found root@Pineapple:~# cat /etc/modules.d/60-usb-serial cat: can't open '/etc/modules.d/60-usb-serial': No such file or directory root@Pineapple:~# cat /etc/modules.d/60-usb-serial I hope you find this input useful, I will probably reset the firmware tonight to see if it works. Also, I tested the same dongle on the MKV and it works fine. Cheers
Foxtrot
The system configuration (UCI) section for wan2 missing and the /etc/modules.d/60-usb-serial file missing are signs that you have not saved settings after inputting them. That's the only explanation I have.
cheeto
i'll do a factory reset and get back to you. The odd thing is that it worked for a couple of days and died. keep u posted
