pVnRT Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I just got over an old Compaq Armada 7800, but it has some kind of Power-on password. After some googling I believe its connected to drivelock. But when I try to boot without the HDD, the password is still there,Any idea about how I should proceed? Quote
DLSS Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 how bout resetting the bios ? (remove and place back the mobo battery or shortcut the jumper) (as in this : normal jumper is then w8 a few seconds .... and place it back as it was first. ure bios should be reset and the password should be gone or reset to standard) Quote
pVnRT Posted November 25, 2006 Author Posted November 25, 2006 I took out the mobo battery for a few minutes, and put it back in, but the password was still there and I couldn't find any jumpers in there Quote
Arsenic Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 If you left the power supply plugged in, that might affect whether or not removing the battery would do anything. Quote
DarkRoux Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 i had the same problem with a Compaq Armada. Just unplug it, remove the main battery and bios battery and wait 24 hours. Takes a while for the board to completely drain. Quote
pVnRT Posted November 26, 2006 Author Posted November 26, 2006 I had unplugged the power supply, I'm gonna take out the battery and leave it for 24 hours and see what happens Quote
Arsenic Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I think that it is weird that you have to wait for 24 hours.... I mean, I know capacitors can hold a charge for a good deal of time, but can't you drain the last bit by flipping the power switch once unplugged? (if not, oh well) Quote
Reflux Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Try a backdoor password. Search your computer's mobo's backdoor password. Also the power-on password has to do with your BIOS not harddrive so try finding your bios jumpers you should have one it should be near your cmos chip or something. Quote
