I can't decide which wireless card to use with kali

Recommended Posts

Kinda strapped for cash at the moment. Thinking either this with the ralink 3070L chipset for$13

Or this with the ralink 3070 chipset for $17. It has 3000mw over the other one.

I'm looking for something that has high compatibility and a strong signal strength that works well in kali

Hmmmmmmmm................................................reading my ass off but would still like some solid suggestions. This one seems legit with a non bullshit atheros chipset:

This was already discussed here.

My personal choice is the the Alfa AWUS036H with a 7dbi directional.

It's affordable and the best balance between power and size. You can fit it in your pocket, but it gets the job done well.

*Edit* More Info:

I've used this with Kali. Works right away, plug n play.

Can up the power using this method.

Can link with Yagi if required.

Using 7dbi directional gave me enough power to target WiFi about 70 meters / 76 yards / 230ft away.

Using 2 Yagis, I've managed around a mile / 1.3km (clear line-of-sight).

AWUS036NHA "Black" Alfa - 2000 mw (33 db)

B/G/N MiMo RP-SMA. Atheros AR9271. Great injecting card due to wattage output. Highest wattage. Make sure to set your region to BO so you can push over 27 db output. This card is the best card to use if you're hunting off-band wifi; Atheros chips are the best at raw frequency input instead of channel # input.

Can't argue with that. I have silver, but black sounds nicer.

Found the Chinese version for $8 shipped. Anybody heard about the Chinese model? It's $8. I'm guessing the build quality is nowhere as good as the American model but Idk. If you know please respond.

In general, when you want a precision tool and you get it cheap, it's still a tool but far less precise. That price difference comes from somewhere...

false economy

noun
noun: false economy; plural noun: false economies
an apparent financial saving that in fact leads to greater expenditure.

Basically, he'll probably end up disappointed with the cheap one and end up buying another, or the electronics/device won't be as rugged as a decent product.
