Questions about wp6.sh

ok what am i doing wrong, cant get the wifi conection sharing working... what is supposed to the gateway etc.. what from ipconfig should i copy and paste to the wp6 script?

Netmask: 255.255.255.0 (i know should be that)

Network: 172.16.42.0/24 (dont know if this is correct)

LAN: eth1 ()

WAN: wlan0 (pretty sure this is correct)

Gateway: 172.16.42.1 (not clue)

Host PC: 172.16.42.42 (no clue)

WiFi Pineapple: 172.16.42.1 (pretty sure that supposed to be that)

Your settings are all correct except for the Gateway. This is your home routers IP address. From your ifconfig, I can see that you have a 192.168.2.X address. My assumption is that your router is at 192.168.2.1.

If this is correct, make sure to set THAT as your gateway (not 172.16.42.1).

A Chromebook is a very neat device for powering and using the Pineapple because it's lightweight and has a long battery life.

The only problem is I cannot enable Internet connection sharing on it because to my knowledge there are no such options.

Since I have developer mode enabled I have a regular linux shell, but wp6.sh does not work. It outputs the regular "browse to http://172.16.42.1:1471"but kills the Internet on the Chromebook until I reboot.

My settings for wp6.sh are:

Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Network: 172.16.42.0/24
LAN: eth0
WAN: mlan0
Gateway: 192.168.5.1
Host PC: 172.16.42.42
WiFi Pineapple: 172.16.42.1

My output of "route -n" before plugging in the Pineapple is:

Might be able to do what I did for my nexus running nethunter. Connect to the management interface of the nano via wifi, ssh to the nano and run ifconfig. Gives you the lan IP of the pineapple on your device it's connected to. My case it was 192.168.x.x. Then from your device, navigate your browser to that 192.168.x.x:1471. Worked for me.

Hello all.

I should start off by saying I'm new in the community and an aspiring ethical hacker. So please go easy on me.

I was given the nano as a christmas gift and so far, I've learned so much.

My first issue is bridging the internet connection from my MacBook Pro El Capitan to the nano via the usb Y cable.

I attempted to configure through the terminal on my mac using wp6.sh but can't seem to get it right.

I leave the ip address and subnet the same, but change the lan and wan from eth1 and wan0 to en5 and en1 as those are the right interfaces related. after hitting return, it does nothing.

Now I'm no expert but I believe this is a linux only script and so it probably doesn't work with apple computers. If that is the case, is there a work around?

Second problem I'm having is mounting the sd card.

I will just say that the system log reports that "codepage CP427" is not found.

while I looked as some other posts regarding this issue, I can't seem to pinpoint if this log is related. I have looked at the fstab file but I don't see anything else other than it should be sda1 not sd1. Either way I fixed that but it still gives me that error.

WP6.sh is for linux there is a known issue with ICS on Macs that is a OS issue unfortunately however many people have had luck using a VM on their Macs running Kali or your flavor of Linux to be able to share that connection.

As for the SDcard it is a known issue in this version of the firmware and Sebkinne is working on fixing it and has hopes that the new firmware will be pushed out sometime this week.

so just to clarify, the wp6.sh is only linux. Mac does not bridge the internet to the nano and I'm assuming neither does windows.

If that's the case, I may just format and install linux on my macbook pro.

The Kali VM will get it's internet from it's built in vmware ethernet(eth0) connection to the Mac. When you plug the pineapple into your Mac, from vmware tell it to take over the usb connection. This will add a second ethernet to Kali(eth1), from there run the wp6 script, but change the script so it sets up the pineapplewan to eth0, and the pineapplelan is eth1. That should get you going.

The post that I quoted above is one way to just use a VM with Kali so that you don't have to reformat your machine. If you have a Windows machine the following viedo can help you step through the setup of ICS.

Yes, you ran the script, but ICS with that script will not work on OS X. If you want ICS, use Linux.

I've updated the WiFi Pineapple Linux connection script.

wp6.sh now includes a guided Internet and WiFi Pineapple Interface selection. The default gateway selection is now based on the selected Internet interface and will indicate if no default route is available. The IP address settings are easily skipped, keeping the (172.16.42.0/24) defaults which will suffice for the vast majority of us.

Has anyone experienced the following?

I installed Kali Linux on an old laptop. I have both wired and wireless connectivity if I choose to do so but not at the same time.

The same is true when I plug the Nano via the USB. It recognizes it as an interface and I can connect to it but If I try to go to the internet I have to switch the active network from eth1 to eth0.

Then I can't connect to the Nano. On both OS Windows and Mac I can have both (actually 3 if you count wireless) active.

I have a feeling it has to do with network bridging but I can't seem to configure it properly.

Any suggestions?

connected the Y Cable to my NANO and connected the two other USB ports to my Laptop picked my home WiFi on Kali to have the NANO use that Internet source ran ./wp6.sh typed N

eth1 shows the pineapple 172.x.x.x

wlan0 shows my IP for the wlan0

press enter and no internet for the NANO or the Laptop yay so not only does the WiFi Pineapple Connector App not work but now the wp6.sh doesn't appear to detecting anything for eth0 im curious if you have to connect a USB to the the other side of the NANO or not I know with like Android you connect the changer cable to that and the other end is for power but im pretty sure the 3 usb ports on the Y cable one is for power the other is for data and the other is to connect to the NANO.

Thanks for letting us know thats why i didn't order the Nano like you said is in beta why have people spend 100 plus for something that's is still in beta i just hope that when they get the tetra is working good not with all these problems. I even scare to order hak5 stickers they might not even stick right

I don't remember ever having to pay for something that was still in development stage I honestly can't believe hak5 would sell a beta hardware. I just hope that just because its a beta hardware that I don't end up having to spend another $100 to get the final product just to get updates in the future.

I mean how people are willing to spend $100+ on a device like these which has limited support is beyond me. You're all doing it wrong then. I have my nano running on Kali 2.0 USB live on my MacBook and Kali 2.0 on my msi laptop. And also Kali nethunter 3.0 on my nexus 7. That's three different installations of Kali all working with my nano.

You don't need all these cables connecting your nano to your Laptop. Either plug the male use port directly into the laptop, or use an extension cable if it's next to an exhaust vent. One cable. One. Run wp6.sh and give it the right parameters. Pineapple interface, Internet interface and gateway ip. If you can't figure this out, then you probably shouldn't be using the nano anyway.

In it for the money? I have no affiliation with HAK5, I've never met or spoken to anyone from Hak5, so I can impartially say that I suspect your talking cobblers.

think about how much time these guys have spent getting this product to Beta release, how much work has gone into the design, sourcing of parts, sourcing of manufacturers, and the countless hours of development work that's gone into the R&D and general development work to get it into our hands.

Now factor in how many units they're likely to sell, the profit margin that isn't going to buy them all a Porsche, and the ongoing support that they are providing.

Stick with learning why you aren't having success, provide as much info as you can here, learn from those that have got their Nano working with the same OS as you.

I'm *very* new to Pineapple, and I've found it frustrating getting up to speed with that and Linux, which I'm really not strong with. Persevere with it, you'll have an epiphany, get something working that then points you to another avenue of investigation, and enjoy the successes that you'll make.

I'd just like to take a moment and say that the hardware is not in beta its the software that runs on the hardware this is in beta. Lots of company release beta products that cost money most notably Google Glass. It costs money for companies to make the hardware and they have to pay the developers who make the software so yes they need to sell it. The Nano and the Tetra are the next gen pineapples and they ARE going to be released where as Google sold lots of sets of the Google Glass and then after people bought them abandoned the project. Instead of ranting about it not being fully featured how about contributing to the project and fixing broken things or creating something new instead of complaining.

I personally don't experience even a quarter of the problems I see on these forums. Most of the time it's not the device that's jacked up but it's a user that simply hasn't yet learned fully what they are trying to accomplish. With that said, be confident that the NANO and TETRA hardware is not going to change. As newbi3 stated the software is in beta, not the hardware.
