Questions about batteries

Recommended Posts

I was wondering on average, the life expectancy of a fully charged juice 4000? And if one can buy extra ones?

Just running the pineapple in recon mode, pineap logging, not allowing connections, went for a little over 4 hours, still have 3 out of 4 dots on the battery gauge.

So, could we buy extra batteries?

We do not sell the Pineapple Juice 4000 separately yet, but will in the future.

Had my nano up for 3.5 hours with the Alfa piggybacked and I still had two bars on my 4000. Recon, pineAP, logging with around 600 APs in my pool.

Guys, just wondering, are you using 120V or 220v?

I had the same issue with my Mark V's battery (which was replaced by Hak5 THANKS!!) just over a year ago.

We use 220v here where i live. Anyway, As soon as i got my new battery I avoided using 220v and used a 110v transformer instead. Never had a problem again.

Cheers,

It shouldn't matter because these are charged over USB (5V).

110V, 220V, 50 Hz, 60 Hz... What a mess.

USB on the other hand is more international even than WiFi! Hooray for a global standard :)

(carefully spending one of the 3 posts I can make today - please help me get out of this hell :)

I'm greatly enjoying the usability of the tactical edition, I easily enticed my buddy (who I've been trying to convince to get a VPN) to take out his phone, from which I captured a MAC. Now I'm readying the pwning and much hilarity.

Anyhow so far I'm getting about six or seven hours off of it while running in monitoring mode. Not bad but I'm looking for a longer lived version. One issue might be that a tethered Android charges from it, though oddly I don't think I see much running time difference between keeping one tethered and not (the phone is probably just generally charged).

So I'm looking for one with greater capacity and ideally charge through capability (Pinapple stays powered when charging the battery externally - the Pinapple battery doesn't have this). So, it would need to be

  • > 4000 mAh - ideally double this for one day use
  • 2.5" x 5" x 0.5"
  • USB port in the center
  • (ideally) power switch
  • (ideally) charge though

Any candidates?

I would look at the Xiaomi Power banks. They are very well built and the prices cannot be beat. Seriously, their prices are INSANE. I'm not 100% positive on the charge through capabilities, you'll have to read into it a bit more. But bang for your buck, ($/mAh) they're amazing.

20,000mAh for $29: http://nis-store.com/power-banks/xiaomi-mi-power-bank-20000mah-white-original/

10,000mAh for $20: http://nis-store.com/power-banks/oneplus-power-bank-10000mah-white-2811813/

Thanks - great suggestion. One concern is that many battery packs are crappy so good, reliable ones are great to know about. The 20k mAh is a little big but might still fit in the tactical pouch. Unfortunately the USB port is offset, but a short USB extension cable (ideally right angled) might work.

I hope you guys at hak5 will soon offer the battery pack as an accessory that can be bought from the shop later on I didn't realize that the tactical one included a battery pack but would be nice if you could add them as an accessory in case people would like to buy a extra battery pack or if their battery back dies they could buy another one.

Yeah I read about that a post I think in page 2 of this category have to use my Anker battery pack till then.

Would like to find that USB plug that darren was showing it has plug to connect to the nano then it has 2 USB ports for connecting two USB devices. Had no luck finding that online anywhere yet.

You mean to connect to the female port on the nano? Search for 2port usb hub, i found a bunch on amazon.

this one has 4x ports on it, but you'd probably run into power concerns http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Compact-Travel-Speed-Pocket/dp/B009G47NG0

I found one that looked like the one he had but it was only on a google search and a sketchy looking site listing

I have found this "Cute USB Mini 2-Port USB 2.0 Hub Splitter" on amazon,

http://www.amazon.com/Cute-USB-2-Port-Splitter-White/dp/B00A81ISJ6

For about 10 bucks I guess it'll do the job, it even comes in 6 different color/finishes!

Haven't found any cheaper solutions yet, so I think I might order one of these soon enough..

I had the same issue, I just bought a 'power bank' battery from eBay that's got 2A usb output, used for charging phones and such. says it's 20000 mAh, Had it running for like 8 hours and it works without issue.

The nice thing about the Pineapple Juice is that it works perfectly in the tactical edition pouch. Really makes it easy to war walk. Downside is it has about 8 hours run time and no Charge Through feature (charge while running the Pineapple).

Currently using http://amzn.com/B00X5RV14Ywith the NANO.

Are you using a short cable or a short 180 degree adapter?

I'd like to be able to fit this in the tactical pouch,

I currently have a similar battery in size, it fits the tactical pouch neatly, the only downside is that the battery is a bit too thick for the supplied 180 degree connector so I got to leave the flap opened to connect it with a bulky USB extension.

if you have any compact usb extension/adapter to point me towards I'd be interested ;)

I love the pineapple juice 4000. I would just wait for it to come back into stock before wasting money one ones that aren't going work well with the tactical case. I plan to grab a couple more when they're back in stock as well.

I actually use a small cable to connect the juice to the pineapple on the flap side, then use the 90 to pop out of the bottom of the case and pop my linksys WUSB54GC for an extra card (supports monitor mode) or for client mode as needed. Makes it more of an all-in-one I can put in my jacket or bag.
