[Official] RandomRoll

Yeah, this is testing with http only. I think there seems to be an issue with committing the iptables rules, I took a dump of the rules before launching RandomRoll and then after and could not locate any deltas. So it seems like the command to run

iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination $(uci get network.lan.ipaddr):80'

Is not executing as it should. I decided to do some more digging to see if the symlinks were being created to see if there was a permissions problem but the symlinks for the assets selector and the rolls are created correctly. Have you ever seen this issue with iptables before?

I am trying to install RandomRoll on a  Nano on the latest firmware, it doesn't seem to complete the install. I'm installing to a 32gb sandisk SD card. Any ideas?

Make sure you have the Module Manager up to date, and give it time. It's a large module.

RandomRoll works well for me and it is humorous to all but my family. :)   It works like a champ on the Tetra.

I plan on using this for a demo and would like to replace a Roll with one of my own.  Based on what I see this should be pretty easy by just swapping out some file. Correct?

You don't need to replace anything, just create a new folder with the same structure as the others.

Are they browsing HTTPS websites? RandomRoll can obviously only work on plain HTTP websites.

FOXTROT, I am having an issue. First I thought it was the https issue described in this post. But after ensuring that I was browsing http sites I get error 403 forbidden.  Any ideas? Also haw do I create my own??  Where do I find the files?

After enabling the module post the output of "ls /www/".

You can create your own module by mirroring any of the rolls that come with the module and changing their code, as described in this thread.

Having a bit of trouble getting random roll to work. I reset to factory defalts formated the sd card and installed random roll to the sd card without issues. I have no other modules installed, the landing page disabled and no other modules enabled except PineAP. I have all the options enabled in PineAP and have connected to one of the created acess points using my note 4 for testing. I then used chrome to go to http page not https I've done this with the pineappe connected to the inernet through the stub and without. I have never been redirected to the roll. I'm using the latest updated version of the pineaple software.

Not quite sure what you mean by "the stub"? Try navigating to 172.16.42.1 when the module is running and see if you get a meme.

Navigating to  172.16.42.1 did get me a roll. I then tried to navigate to a few other sites and either got the roll or a black screen with a small square broken icon. This is the first time it worked in a test. Did navigating to  172.16.42.1 fix something?

No, it didn't fix anything. What pages are you navigating to?

I installed it got it working partially that is because no audio plays and I tried with two different clients iOS and Chrome on a droid any suggestions?

Behavior seems to be only on mobile devices, Laptops and Desktops work fine. I am trying to figure out what is wrong, anyone has a clue on what to look for?

Be more specific about the devices.

So I tried it on an iPhone, iPad and a android phone and the roll page displays just fine but no sound on either however if I use a windows laptop with any browser the sound comes on. I have also confirmed that loading a video will play sound just fine however autoplay is not possible either.

<video autoplay controls>

</video>

In fact if you do not set the controls attribute the video won't even show. This may be just coding issues but I am trying to rule out the module.

Well, RandomRoll is about 2 years older than EvilPortal, but whatever.

I can't do anything about vendors from stopping audio files loading. The best thing I can do is make it play on a click event, and let it still auto-play on desktops.

If you can figure out a way to exploit chrome and beat google's efforts to stop things like this module working, you let me know. (same for apple)

Sorry if I came across like if I was bashing your work because I was not. I just wanted to point out that the majority of the people now days browse on mobile devices so modules like yours should evolve. I fully understand that we have no control over the limitations built in the mobile browsers by the manufactures however I am sure that if there is a will there is a way. Maybe the click event would be just fine or you convert the module to something better that Evil Portal.
