Radical_Ronin Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Hey all, A bit frustrated here as I can't seem to find any information about this specific problem. Running Kali 2.0 in a VM on mac, fresh install, updated ready to go. Plugged in my YARD Stick One, launched gqrx with "gqrx -r", which popped up the configuration window, but the yardstick one is not listed. Am I missing a step here? Thanks in advance. Here's what I get when I try to use rfcat with YS1: Error in resetup():Exception('No Dongle Found. Please insert a RFCAT dongle.',)w.V(Gљ)#v8cېٍ\5D4E6[%Y.uq~7SueVS;<AAo^MHN%.iY䄩;Ɗ- vFtTaoPpK # lsusbBus 008 Device 002: ID 04f2:b070 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd CameraBus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hubBus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hubBus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hubBus 005 Device 004: ID 1d50:605b OpenMoko, Inc.Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hubBus 003 Device 002: ID 0781:5575 SanDisk Corp.Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hubBus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hubBus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hubBus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub gqrx -rlinux; GNU C++ version 4.9.1; Boost_105500; UHD_003.007.003-0-unknowngr-osmosdr 0.1.3 (0.1.3) gnuradio 3.7.5built-in source types: file osmosdr fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd miri hackrf bladerf rfspace airspyUsing Volk machine: sse4_1_64_orcCould not resolve property : pattern10600Could not resolve property : pattern10600Could not resolve property : pattern10600Could not resolve property : pattern10600Could not resolve property : pattern10600Could not resolve property : pattern10600Could not resolve property : pattern10600Could not resolve property : pattern10600gr-osmosdr 0.1.3 (0.1.3) gnuradio 3.7.5built-in source types: file osmosdr fcd rtl rtl_tcp uhd miri hackrf bladerf rfspace airspyUsingFATAL: set_sample_rate failedTrying to fill up 1 missing channel(s) with null source(s).This is being done to prevent the application from crashingdue to gnuradio bug #528.terminate called after throwing an instance of 'boost::exception_detail::clone_impl<boost::exception_detail::error_info_injector<boost::math::rounding_error> >' what(): Error in function boost::math::round<f>(f): Value -inf can not be represented in the target integer type.Aborted Fixed the rfcat issue, now just need to get the gqrx issue solved Figured it out... Guest Josef K Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 any luck with the GQRX issue? Probably not. Although there are some posts about the YS1 in the SDR forum, this is a bit misleading, since de yardstick is NOT an SDR compatible device. GQRX runs on top of gnuradio and is a nice frontend for software defined radio. This works well with devices like HackRF, BladeRF, Rad1o, USRP, RTL dongles etc. The output is a sampled signal that has to be processed (e.g. demodulated) on a computer. The Yardstick is an integrated transceiver for digital signals and has a modem that supports some modulation schemes. The output is the decoded signal. Quote
Bumblebee08 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I'm sorry for bringing up an older post, but I'm having similar issues. The YARD stick one dongle is being recognized with the 'lsusb' command as shown above (OpenMoko, Inc.). I installed 'rfcat' and this seem to work as well. However, when I open 'gqrx', the dongle/antenna is not found/recognized. I tried the same steps on different machines (installing rfcat and trying to get it to work with gqrx). Since the YS1 is not an SDR compatible device, maybe it's an idea to add a sub-forum under "Active Projects"? Something like "YARD Stick One / Ubertooth One" sub-forum? Quote
Odaju Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Hi, I have the same problem. The dongledoes not get automatically recognised and I cannot seem to figure out the exact path for the USB Dongle so it says "Unknown host (/dev/ttyUSB0)" Quote
KINGSABRI Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Hey! same issue here seems YARD Stick one doesn't have the expected support? Quote
Just_a_User Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 if your just after a live spectrum output from the YSO there was some info in these 2 episodes of Hak5 - specificly part 2 IIRC. If you really need gnuradio with YSO this wont help. part 2 Quote
