Karterius
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get (*preferrably cheap*) RF spectrum Analyzer / Detector or how to build one. A friend of mine who lives in an apartment building is experiencing dropping like crazy from their wifi. The router when tested elsewhere works fine. I am beginning to think someone is "polluting" the RF air waves with a N router. Since it costs like $100+ to get a N card to even see this, I thought I would invest in an RF spectum analyzer instead, as it could have more uses down the line. I was looking more for one that can hook into my laptop, that way I can save the output, and get a visual for what is going on. I saw these varieties on Ebay, but I am not sure how effective they are: USB Spectrum Analyzer PMCIA Spectrum Analyzer
Spartain X
http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/80ce/ that's probably what you are looking for and from that you should be able to find what channel relatively has the most distortion and traffic
