ChevronX
Can you determine if a HDD is SATA 1 or 2 with a program?
Sparda
Dose it really mater? They are both backwards compatible with each other yes? (I.e. a SATA 1 drive plugged in to a SATA 2 controller will run at SATA 1 speeds, and vis versa)
ChevronX
Yes, I mean, if you wanted to determine if the HDD was running at Sata 1 or
stingwray
Check the jumper pin configuration on the hard drive, most SATA2 hdd come running at SATA150 rather than SATA300 so they will work in any SATA port. Just check any installation instructions you got with it of the manufacturers website to how yours is configured and you'll be fine.

Spartain X
you could just try running pcwizard (same people who make cpu-z):http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php from that just get the hard drive serial number and google it for specs but it might just tell if it's sata 1 or
