TerrorByte11011001
I want to install Linux on a new computer since my old one died but Windows 8/8.1 has UEFI Firmware. Or do i have to buy a separate hardrive or SSD along with a new laptop to install Linux on it? Thanks in Advanced
digip
Linux can boot off of UEFI based systems, but you don't remove it. You can disable secure boot if needed, but UEFI can not be removed. Secure boot is a feature of UEFI that can be enabled and disabled though. barry99705
An addition to digip's comment, UEFI is the new bios. That's why you can't remove it.
