digininja Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Finally released the videos from SteelCon 2014. A couple missing but those will be added later. Youtube playlist Quote
michael_kent123 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Thanks for posting these. Having visited Sheffield, I understand the "Steel" name. Since you are UK based, what other UK cons would you recommend? Quote
digininja Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Depends on how much cash you've got, BSides London and BSides Manchester are free, SecuriTay is cheap (as far as I know) and then there is 44con which costs quite a bit. Quote
cooper Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Does quality rise along with the fee, or do you consider for instance that 44con to be overpriced? Quote
digininja Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 I wouldn't say the quality changes but as they pay for speakers to fly in you get a much wider range than the others which rely on the generousity of speakers to pay their own way. Quote
michael_kent123 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Is there anything else UK based that you recommend? I did go to a few 2600 London meetings but was not too impressed. It seemed to be people who just liked to drink. I also went to DEFCON 4420 in London but found it quite cliquey (lots of people who already knew each other). Quote
digininja Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 DC4420 is worth trying, it can be a bit intimidating to get into the cliques but once in you'll find it is a great place. See if there is an OWASP group, I don't know about the London area. Other than that check out your local university, see if they have a public hacker society, I'm currently setting one up in Sheffield. Quote
