softdel Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Introduction: Many people wish they had a website. This tutorial lists the best software, a good free web hosting company and some basic guides to get you started. Its easier than it looks. ----------------------------- Section One: Getting some web space ----------------------------- In this tutorial I am going to use 100WebSpace.com just because it's what came up in Google. First you need to set an account up. Go to HERE and click the big "Sign Up" button. When the next page loads select "Use a Free Sub Domain" which will give you a domain like "MyUsername.100WebSpace.com". Once you have done that, click "Next Step" On this page the website will collect your personal information. This is perfectly secure and you can put a fake address in there...just remember to use a valid E-Mail. Make sure you select "FREE Hosting" on the list of options under the personal details form. and on the "Pick up a domain" form, select "Use a subdomain" Finally enter the verification code in the box provided. Click "Next>>Submit Payment" - Do not worry, there are no credit card details taken from you. You will now see a page that says "Special offer"...you can ignore that because it requires money. Just click "No, thanks, continue with my ad-supported account" which is under that advert. You're all done! You have now set-up your account and you password has been E-Mailed to you. It's now time to go on over to your E-Mail provider and open up the E-Mail entitled "100 Web Space" What you need out of the E-Mail is: Login: (Your Username) Password: (Your password- like 00000000) Once you have that information (you may have to wait a few mins) click HERE and enter your details. NOTICE: Your account may not become active straight away! That's it. You have set-up your hosting! Let's go on to Section Two. ----------------------------- Section Two: Getting the software and setting up ----------------------------- First, I'm going to provide legal links to full 30 day trial downloads of top Macromedia (Adobe) Software. Macromedia Dreamweaver- The tool you will be using to create the website and interface with the FTP Server. Macromedia Fireworks- The software you will be using to edit the images and optimise the for your website. Ok, once you have downloaded these files, double click on the icons and follow the installation instructions. So, you have Dreamweaver installed, let's start with that. I have made this tutorial to help you get the basics of your web hosting and design set-up. HERE (25mb- Streaming SWF File) THIS TUTORIAL IS WORK IN PROGRESS! I AM CURRENTLY CREATING VIDEO TUTORIALS FOR MACROMEDIA DREAMWEAVER AND FIREWORKS! I will continue this post when i have completed the videos. Quote
