Hi

I am running tor and privoxy and I browse the internet with iceweasel (on debian 7.5 - gnome - 64 bits). Moreover I configured tor in order to have my exit tor's nodes in Great Britain.

The idea is to watch the BBC iplayer and avoid the following message :

BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only. Find out why.
If you are in the UK and see this message please read this advice.

It's working in the sense that most sites which give your location knowing your ip localize me in London - GB. So at first sight, I'm in GB.

But I still have the restriction message from the BBC player.

Do you know how the BBC site localize their clients ?

seems to simply be GeoIP (unless they are omitting some information)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/help/site_versions.shtml

My guess is that the TOR routes might cause their localisation to report a non-uk address - perhaps something that remains in the header or perhaps might be missing from it?

Or perhaps it's related to https://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/tv/incorrect_location_may2014

I would try a VPN - or if you have a access to a box in the UK, see if that works (i.e. not a TOR relay)
