VaKo
General All-Rounder. Built well (good for when you want to throw it in your bag with books, which you will do, looks OK, not uber-fast but ok.

VaKo
Not a clue. Its just a USB stick, don't worry about the numbers.
deathwarder
ok, then do I get u3 or not u3?
VaKo
If its useful and you can convince your parents to spend the extra $5 on it. Have a look at this list.
deathwarder
its actually cheaper on amazon to get the u3. I just want to know if u3is useful? I might use the switchbllade. Can u3 be removed, including the cd partition if Idon't like it?
VaKo
Don't think It can be removed, and i don't see a use for U3 unless you want a switch blade.
deathwarder
well, sandisk does have a removal tool. Has anyone else used this?
Rab
can i ask why you wanna put isos on a usb drive? if ur just transferring between machines there's this nice little usb to usb thing u can get. or if ur having to make multiple trips, get an external usb hard drive and do all ur files in one trip? it would help if i knew what ur trying to achieve, why are you caught up on speed? deathwarder
I backup my mom's 4gigs of files monthly, I reformat once every two months(average). I need to back things up quickly to other computers, especially over large distances. Im not too caught up on speed anymore. Right now, its either the cruzer micro or the cruzer mini. I just need to know, can u3 be removed? If so, does the cd partition go away? Can it be put back on if I change my mind? The micro is faster, cheaper, and I woldn't need to worry about loosing a cap, thats why I need to know about u3. The micro is fast enough for me. deathwarder
yes, but its way too slow for big transfers. I also don't like carrying around the cable.
VaKo
Just buy one for gods sake, its a $50 USB stick, not a major purchase. U3 is a nice extra, get it if you want to hack, if you don't want it, do bother buying one and removing it, its just 6mb lost. Also, there a lot of different USB sticks on the market, however, there isn't as many places that actually make them. And there is only a handful of company's that actually make the memory chips. deathwarder
Ok, Ill go looking. It is a major purchase in my opinion, I was brought up to know the value of a dollar, and not to waste 50 on something substandard.
VaKo
I know that, and thats a good attitude, but in all honesty USB sticks are all pretty much the same.
univrsltransl8r
I think size and price are probably the biggest factors. Aside from that, it's mostly nickle and dime stuff when it come to speed comparisons. The bottom line is that it's going to take a while to move that many bits. I don't care what kind of flash it is. It just takes time.
deathwarder
Ok, I get that, but the big thing now is, do I get u3 or not? Can it be removed easily of I don't like it? Because there are a lot of things I might use it for, and a lot of situations where it could be a nusance.

deathwarder
you are referring to the flash drive? Ok, well let me tell you something, I have a job managing three websites for various organizations around the area. They've each got something like 300megs of files to transport around for editing. I made frequent backups of my mom's computer(no disk burner), and the family computer(too many files for a cd burner). I transport files to my grandparents(mainly photos, the cd drive's functionality is sparatic).
VaKo
Buying a flash drive shouldn't be this much work. By the sounds of it, you just want something small, so buy something small. The uber-fast drives aren't that much faster.
