pilik
Been having a nightmare with a loud gaming flatmate in the early hours of the morning so finding a way to put a stop to it. I did initially just set a ban (timer and IP) on the virgin superhub which worked but a hard reset gets rid of all the information and lets him back on again pretty quickly. I'm looking for a way I can issue a dos attack against my network at a specific time from my macbook. I have an app on android called dSploit which does the job well but when the router is reset, dSpolit doesn't continue the attack so needs to be manually triggered again. I want something that will continue going whatever. Any suggestions?
digininja
I assume you've tried the non-technical approach of just talking to the guy? I'd say the only way you are going to solve it is face to face. If you do a technical approach to solving it he is going to end up in your room asking why it is all broken then you are going to have to talk it out (or worse) in the early hours of the morning. Does that sound enough like your mother?
pilik
haha I wish it were that simple! He wears a headset so tries to keep somewhat quiet but ends up shouting as he can't hear himself. Tried many times, just looking for a relatively simple way of knocking him off without fail between a certain time bracket without having to unplug the router and take it upstairs! digininja
Arp poison the network putting out a fake MAC for the gateway that just blackholes the data. That would survive anything done to the router as you are just broadcasting to the network.
pilik
I've just had a quick look online and don't really know what I should be searching for to accomplish that! Know of any good tutorials or where exactly I should be looking?
digininja
Google arp cache poisoning and you'll find a load of stuff. Arpsoof is one of the tools to look for
GuardMoony
The mean problem for beeing loud is not hearing yourself. enable listening on the microphone helps a lot. But it requires getting used to it. Or get a headset like turtlebeach px22 that has the option in the controler. Buying earplugs to sleep with is also a cheap option :D All the other stuff is only going to piss him off en result in lesser sleep for you :/

Arpsoof is one of the tools to look for I've looked into it and from what I understand is: I trick the target PC into thinking my laptop is the router so it forwards traffic to me, then instead of doing anything with it I can just drop it. The only downside is when the router is reset the target PC will be given a new IP address so would require manually changing the script? cooper
The only downside is when the router is reset the target PC will be given a new IP address so would require manually changing the script? With arpspoof you can optionally target a specific host but if you omit that the entire lan gets ARP spoofed. The only thing is that you have to know the servers he's trying to connect to so you can send ARP replies to the network informing everyone that that host is you (and since it's a game server chances are this will only trouble your flatmate). When he resets the router you're still sending ARP replies that say IP a.b.c.d is the game host so it should still work for as long as you have arpspoof running. My advice though: lock up his monitor in a cupboard only you have the key to and if that doesn't work, get a baseball bat, run some mean spikes through it and tell him that you've decided where you want to stick it.
