Sebkinne
Hey everyone, After a week of beta testing, we are happy to announce our WiFi Pineapple MKV firmware version 1.3.0. This release focused on updating our base with upstream changes and further improving the WiFi Pineapple MKV's general stability. We spent some time improving the way that karma does it's logging and the overall stability of the wireless interfaces. We would also like to thank all our beta testers which wrote a report to let us know their thoughts and any positive or negative things they noticed. Your feedback helps us improve the WiFi Pineapple immensely! If you wanted to try out the beta but didn't get a chance to, don't worry, we are constantly working on new things and will be releasing beta firmwares more regularly! Also, if you have participated in the beta, make sure to re-flash the released 1.3.0 firmware as there have been changes after the last beta round. Changelog: Merged upstream changesUpdated wireless drivers. Updated wireless utilities. Updated OpenSSL (fixed heartbleed). Updated some other base components. Updated hostapd. ananas
Were there any changes from beta2, or is re-flashing not required?
Foxtrot
There are changes since the last firmware. If you read the post, You'd know that.
svondutch
The management interface tells me this: "Performing upgrade. Please wait. This can take a while". In the meantime, I'm looking at a green light and a blinking blue light. For more than over an hour. Please assist.
Foxtrot
That sounds like it hasn't started the upgrade. Can you SSH in?
svondutch
> Can you SSH in? No. I cannot log into 172.16.42.1:1471 either.
Foxtrot
Very odd. Did your MD5Sum match with the one in Seb's post?
svondutch
Does the SD card need to be inserted for this upgrade?
Foxtrot
The SD Card should always be in.
svondutch
> The SD Card should always be in. I'm guessing there is where I had gone wrong.
svondutch
I had tucked the SD card away because it didn't work for me and I had to initialize my MK5 using the unbrick instructions. Anyway, can I format this thing via the management interface now? (it reads: "experimental" which kinda scares me) Edited April 15, 2014 by svondutch
Foxtrot
I don't know to be honest, You'd have to ask someone else, I have a feeling seb will be able to point you in the right direction., you'd be best at #pineapple on the IRC. The details are in my sig.
xrad
So far, so good. The "hostapd deauth" issue I have experienced since 1.0.0 seems to have been fixed. No rebooting every 30 minutes..........yay Thanks Sebkinne
Sebkinne
I had tucked the SD card away because it didn't work for me and I had to initialize my MK5 using the unbrick instructions. Anyway, can I format this thing via the management interface now? (it reads: "experimental" which kinda scares me) The reason you were getting the blinking blue light (booting) was because it tried to boot but because no SD card was inserted, it failed. It doesn't matter if it is formatted or not, as long as one is inserted. You can re-format the SD card just like you can before through the webinterface. The reason why it says experimental is because it fails sometimes. Then you'll need to re-boot and try again. If your SD card is toast though (some of he SD cards we shipped out are defective), you'll need to replace it with a new one if you want to use the SD card storage. I recommend any size class 10 SD card. Again, this is only if the card is permanently dead. A re-format should work. Either way, you have successfully flashed 1.3.0! So far, so good. The "hostapd deauth" issue I have experienced since 1.0.0 seems to have been fixed. No rebooting every 30 minutes..........yay Thanks Sebkinne I'm glad the issue is fixed! SamRyan
Since I got my Pineapple I have been having some issues with the wireless radio, namely no wifi signal is being transmitted for clients to connect. I was hopping the new firmware would fix this but now I'm wondering if it's a hardware problem. Thanks.

Testing it on 2 devices out of X may not be the best sample size if there's an issue. It appears literally nothing has improved on my end regardless of firmware updates from 1.0-1.3 and the replacement pineapple. Please direct me on the proper channel to get a refund. Crypiehef
Thanks :) Downloading ... But I'm having problems with the upgrade, can not get it to start again pineapple, I having to load the factory image and try to retrieve it again but when you install the new firmware (1.3.0) does not start the pineapple. Has anyone had similar problems? Keep the work :D I had a problem too but it was my fault for upgrading from the beta... I did the factory image as well, rebooted.. Applied the update.. After about 5 minutes the lights were flashing like a police car.. I was able to connect to the pineapple and set the password, hit continue and it was fine. Thanks for the continuous update. The Karma is working good right now but I have some problems when I have a lot host connected to the pineapple What do you mean by a lot? I can handle about 10 or so on my 4G (80Mbps) connection before they get lag and SSL strip and URL snarf etc.. starts to act wonky. Solution.. Tango mode. Get a few more pineapples and set them up to mesh.. adjust the txpower to your pentest accordingly on each one. Wicked Pissa to the whole team (I'm from Boston, don't judge). Anyway.. Super stable. Love the SDR stuff! So easy to use! Epic! Karma working great, infusions working great. I have nothing to to report that's negative. I actually had very little problems with the beta too. Love the improvements the the way this is headed! Seb, Darren, etc.. frickin hackerific!
