Smarty
Hi, Im having troubles getting my 3G dongle only after a FW upgrade to 1.1.0 and 1.1.1. Luckily i own 2 Pineapple MKV's, so i am able to run one on 1.0.4 where my dongle connects perfectly. My problem seems to be almost the same as : https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/32163-zte-mf112-3g-dongle/ I own several Huawei dongles, the ones im using for the MK5 are "E3276s" dongles wich present them selves as12d1:1506. After the upgrade to 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 the device is no longer modeswitching. Its doing nothing basicly: 01:00:42 Pineapple user.notice usb-modeswitch: 1-1.2:1.0: Manufacturer=HUAWEI_Technology Product=HUAWEI_Mobile Serial=? I created a 12d1:1506 file and tried various combinations witch i tried from diffent files close to the 1506 product. such as: TargetVendor= 0x12d1 TargetProductList="1001,1406,140b,140c,1412,141b,1433,1436,14ac,1506" MessageContent="55534243123456780000000000000011062000000100000000000000000000" etc etc. Also tried huaweumode =0 /1 and other combinations. When i place the 12d1:1506 file i get a log messages saying "Using 12d1:1506 for modeswithing, but after that the switching seemingly failed. It seems that after upgrading to 1.1.0 my dongle is no longe switched by a generic "switcher??". My 1.04 is running perfecly. Can anyone assist me with this problem, provie a workiing modewitch file or help me in getting my dongle to switch using the generic converter again. Thanks very very VERY much! UK_Steve
Unable to offer any assistance as I am no further foward with my dongle, but pleased see I am not the only one experiencing a problem with modeswitching following the recent firmware updates. Like you my dongle works flawlessy under fireware version 1.0.4 - looking forward to an answer to this annoying problem.
factgasm
Simple question from a simple soul: If you plug your dongle straight into a laptop (Windows/Linux) does it give you automatic connection to the internet? If yes, then your dongle's mode-switching is working just fine - and it's possible the problem is confined to just the settings in the Mobile Broadband section of the Pineapple's Network tile. I added some comments earlier today here which hopefully will be helpful to you. https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/32163-zte-mf112-3g-dongle/
Smarty
Thanx for your reply. Actualy i know my dongle is modeswitching just fine, becouse when i plug it into my other MK5 wich is still on 1.04 it switches perfectly (the first log in my original post is from the MK5 1.04 booting and dialing in). I found your reply in the other topic i mentioned earlyer today, but i have been experimenting with the modeswitch "Files' for a couple of days now, but dont seems to get the right combination for my huawei dongles. Yet on the 1.04 it works out of the box without any modeswitch files.....

factgasm
Excellent. By the way, had you: Attempted to reset your dongle? Attempted to update your dongle driver in Windows Device Manager. Hopefully the new Pineapple firmware will solve all these dongle problem anyway. Edited March 28, 2014 by factgasm
Smarty
Firmware 1.20 did not fix my 3G dongle problem. Although the Dongle i use for my MKIV is now working on my MK5 (12d1:1003) started working on this fw, my newer dongles are still offline. Any thoughts on troubleshooting this? kevinfwb
Same issue here. My Franklin U600 on Virgin worked fine on 1.0.4 but not on 1.1.1 or 1.2.
