Yes, a few edits are required (use aircrack for packet capture for one, i cant remember if -aircrack works). I had it setup so on boot it would start (dip_switch) then start cracking all ap's, worked pretty good!, i edited wifite so that it would skip without prompt already captured/cracked wifi. reaver works too :) which is the main reason i use wifite (after the awesome automation) and wep is always good :).

i would post here, but issues with my sd card not mounting (werid!).

let me know if you need help i can guide you though your issues, its really easy just download the latest version of wifite to start and

I gave it a quick go but was unable to monitor / capture traffic

airmon-ng start wlan0

python wifite -i mon0 -aircrack -crack -dict none

Edit

I'm guessing it needs to be on wlan1?

Edited by AshiOni

try this:

wifitie.py -aircrack

select wlan1 or whatever and see if it captures. if it doesnt edit wifite.py and set pyrit tshark etc to false and aircrack to true (in the capture verification section)

Posted (edited)

here is an old version of it, it should work.

if i get my sd card mounted ill post the new one soon.

if you want to use a wordlist store it /sd/wordlists/example.txt or change it in script.

TODO:

ignore root check when -cracked (afterward) (need root for -check?)
"cracked*" in list of AP's

Restore same command-line switch names from v1

If device already in monitor mode, check for and, if applicable, use macchanger

WPS
* Mention reaver automatically resumes sessions
* Warning about length of time required for WPS attack (*hours*)
* Show time since last successful attempt
* Percentage of tries/attempts ?
* Update code to work with reaver 1.4 ("x" sec/att)

WEP:
* ability to pause/skip/continue (done, not tested)
* Option to capture only IVS packets (uses --output-format ivs, csv)
- not compatible on older aircrack-ng's.
- Just run "airodump-ng --output-format ivs,csv", "No interface specified" = works
- would cut down on size of saved .caps

reaver:
MONITOR ACTIVITY!
- Enter ESSID when executing (?)
- Ensure WPS key attempts have begun.
- If no attempts can be made, stop attack

- During attack, if no attempts are made within X minutes, stop attack & Print

- Reaver's output when unable to associate:
[!] WARNING: Failed to associate with AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF (ESSID: ABCDEF)
- If failed to associate for x minutes, stop attack (same as no attempts?)

MIGHTDO:
* WPA - crack (pyrit/cowpatty) (not really important)
* Test injection at startup? (skippable via command-line switch)

try this:

wifitie.py -aircrack

select wlan1 or whatever and see if it captures. if it doesnt edit wifite.py and set pyrit tshark etc to false and aircrack to true (in the capture verification section)

Excellent tip, thank you.

Found the issue.

Just needed to use wlan1 instead of wlan0. I'm assuming because its set to client mode by default?

I've run in to a lot of issues in the last couple of years with monX not having the same mac address as wlanX, so I've gotten in to a habbit of macchanger --mac=XX...

Reaver for example has always had troubles with wlanX having a different mac address than monX.

I wouldn't use the pineapple for cracking. I'd only want it to capture the handshake so we can crack it using john on a more robust piece of hardware while the rest of the pentest is taking place.

Yep you want a GPU to do the work for sure, i personally use a small word list ~20k words, all of which 8+ char in length which i think takes about 7mins and gets some wifi password's, since i just leave it on and it cracks them at the end, i think its handy :).
n my experience if the 20k list doesnt crack it my 30gb list wont either (most of the time). WPS is your best bet, or as you mentioned john can be good :).

We have dozens of wordlist files we have created based on human nature. Example phone numbers in the United States are ten digits so we mutate the area code of the target +7 digits. You wont believe how often we find phone numbers used as passwords during pentests. Straight 8 digits, then 9, etc. Name mutation lists username/app/portal/etc+mutation works pretty often. Of course having a box to rip through those in a timely fashion helps. We only have one GPGPU, which rocks, however there are obviously better cracking rigs out there. There are services that will crush the hashes you collect as well. Those tend to come at a premium price tho.

I also use 10 digit number. i focus on 0400000000 - 0499999999 because in australia mobiles numbers are in that range. but i only get i think 3k/sec cpu (havent setup GPU again) therefore ive kept lists to a minimum. Im just mucking around with this stuff, nothing serious. There are more vulnerable wifi's out there then you can poke a stick at. WPS i love > 9hrs most of the time and your in 70 - 90% of all wifi has it enabled around me, WEP is also intresting still 2 within range of my house.

I just got done deploying mine from Monday morning to Friday afternoon. I was trying to get into a seemingly abandoned WEP AP. No clients all week. I collected 600,000 IV's and couldn't crack it. On Monday I just did a simple 'screen' and 'python wifite.py' and then a 'screen -r' on Friday. I'm preparing something more focused on chopchop for Monday.

wifite should do chopchop automatically? Im really surprised it hasnt got the key yet.

does the router have wps? if so, you should get it in a day easy.

No WPS :( I surveyed the outside of the building with cell phone + wifi analyzer today and found a much better location with better signal from the AP. I tried chopchop by itself on my home test router and couldn't get it to work without errors. Something about a non compatible card or whatever. I tried the pineapple and kali with an alfa and got the same errors. I know that once a client connects to it, it is pwned. But it appears abandoned and forgotten about.

I used wifite on a WEP AP tonight and it took about 7 minutes.... I was using another usb antenna but that shouldn't matter. Make sure that your wlanX is down. i.e. "ifconfig wlanX down" only if it's currently up though... then airmon-ng start wlanX to get mon0 going. Then ./wifite.py -aircrack

Let it scan. Cntrl+C when the AP you want is yellow or green ( I did mine tonight in yellow) select the number and let it go... it should use arp-replay for you to generate the IVs you'll need.

i had prevously got wifite working using -all but i cant anymore can everyone follow these steps and see if you too get a system halt.

airmon-ng start wlan1

wifite.py -all -aircrack -i mon0

please post your results.

Thanks!

Actually, the -all in there makes it disconnect from my wifi connection to the Pineapple.

Am confused on some things.. Looking at it with power supply plugged in top , which side antenna is Wlan1 ( ? Left or right?

Also, everything updated to latest as of today, and am not able to write to SD. I try to install Infusions to SD and it just sits there, can to internal (running out of space).

How to create swap file that it uses by default?

Using the latest Wifite as of today, I can get it to work by using SSH and doing "Wifite.py". I'm trying to set up a dip switch cammond to make it attempt all nearby networks. I'll post it if I find one.
