intelink
Just a little feedback on my experiences of the MKV. Most or all are minor documentation newbie helpers. 1. Initial flashing worked a treat but on the leaflet explaining the LED combinations I got the Green powered on and other 3 flashing (Firmware Flash completed sucessfully), however, wasn't sure what to do next to stop the flashing (obvious now though). i.e. I took out micro sd and power cycled. But as it happens to stop the 3 led flashing all you have to plug in eth0, hit 172.16.42.1:1471 to complete the install (which is more or less what the card says :-) ). I think just updating the leaflet to say when flashing complete led combo appears you need to hit 172.16.42.1:1471 to complete the install and "stop the flashing complete leds and there is no need to power cycle or remove the sd card". Maybe obvious now for me but I was coming from normal flash upgrade mechanisms and expecting a power cycle. I also noticed later that the upgrade.bin and md5 files were deleted (from supplied firmware sd) after a sucessful install so there was no need to remove the formware sd card. 2. I ran into the WLAN interface swapping issue meaning when I enabled Client mode it disabled the standard pineapple5_xxxx network. Your forums were very helpful in fixing this. :-) 3. I had an issue with dnsspoof not working (config mismatch with my manual edits etc) and with my playing around managed to soft-brick the device (well maybe not, but decided to reflash anyhow as I had played/changed a lot of config). Again congratulations and well done on the reflashing instructions on your website. One minor note is that putting upgrade-1.0.4.bin on the root of the sd card didn't work (i.e. the binary web download) I had to download the zip and put the upgrade.bin and md5 on the sd root. Tried renaming the upgrade-1.0.4.bin to upgrade.bin but still didn't work so assume it need the ms5 as well. Hope this helps. Sebkinne
Hey Intelink, Feedback is always appreciated, but I want to make sure any missunderstandings are cleared up: 1. I'm glad it worked like a treat! However, looking at the "WARNING" card supplied with every WiFi Pineapple MKV, I think step 4 (Browse to http://172.16.42.1:1471) should be enough. It even states to go there to finish the setup. The actual setup also tells you that the device is rebooting and that you should wait! 2. With what firmware were you running when you encountered the wlan0/1 switching bug? 1.0.4 should not have had this issue. Unless you configured something manually. Would be great to hear back on that one! 3. I'm also glad that you like our flashing site. In regards to having to download the ZIP file, the instructions say to do just that. Maybe that should be made more clear. I'll re-write that section! Thank you for your feedback, we really do value people pointing things out we can better! intelink
Hi Seb, 1. I agree. Not sure why I got a little confused tbh. Maybe the firmware flash=reboot in my head. I don't know.. Maybe just a little helper on the 3 flashing lights saying "Flash complete, now progress to web interface". This is a very minor point tbh and not worth reprinting any cards ;-) 2. I installed the one that was supplied with the MKV I purchased a week or so ago. I believe it was 1.0.1 (difficult for me to check now after the initial flash and my recent upgrade to 1.0.4). And yeah on 1.0.4 I haven't had the problem. 3. Not sure why the binary is downloadable linked if you can't use it without the md5. i.e. you must use the zip file and move both files to the sd card. Cheers Neil

Cheers Neil The binary is linked separatly for the manual flash. See the "Upgrading Manually" section at https://wifipineapple.com/?flashing. This is how we have always done it and won't change. We merely made it easier by supplying a ZIP with the correct files to extract onto the SD card! Best Regards, Sebkinne
intelink
Hi Seb, Thanks for the reply. Ok, I can understand people would want to md5 themselves as well as the sysupgrade. Maybe in "Unbricking a bricked MKV" it should read "Just download the ZIP (containing upgrade.bin and md5)". This would of saved me a little time thats all. Sorry, just explaining what I did. If I did it, others probably will, saving them a life hour. Take care Neil
