overwraith Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 So, have bought one of these things, figure it would be good to learn a little about WIFI-security. Why is it called a pineapple? Quote
Foxtrot Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Why isn't it called a pineapple? :) I think its just because it looks good in plastic pineapples, Why is the ducky called a ducky? :) Quote
overwraith Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) I think it is because Darren found this. http://www.instructables.com/id/USB-Rubber-Duckie/ That, and to make them more noticable when we are raiding 'the man's' USB ports. Edited November 29, 2013 by overwraith Quote
King Crimson Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Personally I am hoping to see Darren's banana phone mass marketed. Phone phreaking and such. Would have great.....apeel! ::cringe:: Quote

boob00 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 So, have bought one of these things, figure it would be good to learn a little about WIFI-security. Why is it called a pineapple? Probably because pineapples are sweet and attract people to them.....IDK thats the best i could come up with... Quote
Mit0s1s Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 because calling it a wifi kumquat would just be silly. Quote
Crazy52 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 didnt darren say it was because he cant call it a wifi grenade? Quote
tom564 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 didnt darren say it was because he cant call it a wifi grenade? I think they had potential problems with the TSA as the original versions looked like a grenade shape. Quote
overwraith Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 didnt darren say it was because he cant call it a wifi grenade? I remember that too! So that's why they call it that! Quote
boob00 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I remember that too! So that's why they call it that! No, that was because the original plastic pineapple shell looked like a grenade on the TSA scanner Quote

Mr-Protocol Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 The original first concept was literally hidden inside a hollowed out pineapple. If you dig back far enough in the seasons you should find it. Season 4 Ep 1 Quote

factgasm Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Ducky and Pineapple. The ingredients for an exotic spicy serving. I have mine with banana split and a cup of java. Quote
overwraith Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 I think my thanksgiving duck actually did come with pineapple sauce. Quote
iamk3 Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 When the pineapple was first introduced 5 years ago, I thought that it was a really dumb name. Pineapple? Really? Who names an access point or anything for that matter a pineapple? However now, as with everything else, I couldn't think of a better name! Haha... Branding at its best. :) Quote
