Would this work?

Would this antenna work on the Mark V http://hakshop.myshopify.com/collections/accessory/products/14-dbi-panel-antenna? With this http://hakshop.myshopify.com/collections/accessory/products/copy-of-19-dbi-panel-antenna? Also, what effect would the elite case have on it? Would it be better or worse, or easier or harder to work with/install? Thanks.

Apparently one is able to solder down the SMA connector in a much better way on the systemboard. A better fit, means less antenna loss, less chance it will break, so it means a better overall experience. But I do agree that it is a bit of an odd connector...

I hate RP connectors!

I have an entire bag of adapters... male sma to male sma, rp-male sma to rp-male sma, female sma to female sma, rp-female sma to rp-female sma, female sma to male sma, rp-male sma to female sma, rp-female to rp-male sma, and the list goes on and on. I won't even get into the amount of N-type, BNC, MCX, MMCX, U.FL adapters I have. Even with all these adapters when I get into the field it is about an 50-50 chance I am still missing the exact adapter I need.

There are benefits to putting a female rp-sma on a device like the pineapple. Yes you have the risk of the center pin getting bent/damaged BUT the solid pin has a lot less potential to wear-out and is a lot easier to clean. Now I have to be careful not to get cheesy-poof dust into the female connectors of the pineapple. :)

I 100% agree with signal loss and problems caused by the pig tail but I do not understand how a rp-female vs. non-rp connector is any better when it comes to signal loss. Do you have any links to documentation showing this? I am an amateur radio operator but this is the first time hearing this.

Glad this thread was started.

I've been doing some research on increasing my AP antenna, can someone confirm this is the right adapter to attach the below antenna? (RP-SMA/SMA Male/Female, etc. can start to get confusing)

Adapter:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EE2SPWK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A0643850WUER20TXMK25

The adapter is a bit overpriced, but...

Antenna:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039ORBLK/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2LM6ZPY06LT1N

I've been able to find both of these on Ebay from China for a lot cheaper, but shipping will take weeks.

On a second note, has anyone worked with a WiFi signal amplifier?

http://www.amazon.com/Patuoxun-Wireless-Broadband-Amplifier-Booster/dp/B008VP5H2M/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1382712609&sr=1-1&keywords=wifi+amplifier

Will something like this work? Appears that it will reduce the throughput and slow the connection, but increase the signal. (Appears that this can be powered off a second battery pack as well)

Amps aren't really needed except for rare long distance cases. They amplify the garbage as well, and don't really do anything for receive sensitivity. You can also get yourself in trouble with one and the right antenna. As an example, the above amp with a 18dbi yagi will put you quite a way over the US maximum eirp for directional wifi.

If anyone is looking for a powerful Wifi Antenna, then this is the place... http://www.simplewifi.com/wifi-antenna/

I found out about them after seeing their stall at DEFCON, they are run by like minded people so expect the best :)

Everything on that page is compatible with the Papple ("with an adaptor -tom564") :)

Best thing to do is email them with details of what your after.

The new pineapple is not RP-SMA so the antennas on that page would need an adapter.
