Laptop for Pentesting ( Professionally )

Having a beefy machine for that workload makes sense.

I have the latest HP ZBook which is an absolute monster of a laptop, and has the weight to prove it. I need to dev on this box so I honestly do need something like this (oh, and obviously it's running Gentoo - all my boxes are).

Vailixi's workload sounds like something that would be FAR better served by having your home machine/network exposed to the internet in some way (just SSH in) and have IT crack your hashes and such while you get back to doing actual work. Doing number crunching on a laptop doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense because the thing will practically melt on your lap and eat through the battery in record time. Plus getting a laptop with desktop-esque performance tends to cost about twice as much as that desktop and result in a very heavy machine which tanks your portability further. You do earn brownie points for not fretting about the built-in wifi and just using an external card for that.
