USB Hub Question

Recommended Posts

I wanted to know if I had to do anything special to add a USB Hub to my pineapple.
And then plug in a flash drive, and my Alpha USB Wifi AWUS036NHA.

Change the USB config?
Or does it work automatically?

(I'm a noob...)

I appreciate all of your help!

I honestly dont understand USB Hub questions sometimes... Power issue questions yeah, but when asking about a simple generic hub that has already been covered in many threads.

I searched:

"USB Hub" - No results.

"Hub" - No results.

"Pineapple USB" - No results.

Granted I haven't explored all these forums, I didn't think this question was that hard to answer...

The question isn't hard to answer, common sense should apply here.

Most people go with the D-Link 4port powered hub on amazon.

  • 2 weeks later...

Can anyone actually confirm that the dlink 4 port powered hub off amazon actually works with current mark 4 on v3 firmware?

If not what models of hubs? I have bought a couple already with little success.

Good luck with the powered hub. My opinion is definitely "mileage may vary" with powered hubs. I went through two Pineapples (factory defects with the wireless) and have never been able to get a powered hub to work. I've tried several different powered hubs, including the one sold from the HakShop, and not a single one has worked. I've gone through all the forums and done every recommendation out there to no avail. Direct power on the hub & pineapple, nothing; Anker Astro 10000mah, nothing; doesn't seem to matter. I always get power to the Pineapple, but the hub is never recognized and the SD card never mounts when inserted into the hub (SD runs fine when inserted directly into the pineapple). Forget about the Alfa sparking up, never happens either.

Personally, I feel it's a hardware issue with Alfa and cheap parts. My usb wont mount unless I set my anker to 12V. I've gone through a few Pineapples over the past year... always seems to come down to crappy hardware. If you get (or got) one that works, cherish it LOL! I whish the hardware was 1/2 as good as the firmware.
