Tracking User IPs

First off, this is not for malicious uses, I am merely curious and want to expand my knowledge of networking/hacking. So how do you track the ip of a user on a website without it being your own? The only things I could find by googling the question were to link a user your website and then use your admin controls/whatever to track it. Also, how do you track a person's ip on videogames and skype? Any help is appreciated.

Openly telling a forum you aren't trying to be malicious is like going to a convenience store and telling them you aren't there to rob them. That is what we in the common sense business call a red flag.

But I digress...

The answer you got from google is pretty much the best answer you are going to get. You need to have access to the server, specifically whatever logging mechanism is keeping track of ip connections. The same goes for all online services. Unless the service voluntarily gives your the ip addresses of the connecting users, unauthorized (illegal) access is your only option. Also, if they are connected through a proxy, the only ip you will see is that proxy server. Lastly, short of acquiring...lets call them future targets, why are you trying to get their ip address? You can't really locate the user. IP lookup tools will only give you the geographical region narrowed down to the city (if your lucky) or county. Again though, if you aren't being malicious and this isn't your website, why do you want that info?

If you don't have permission (in writing) to access this info, you are breaking the law pretty much in every country. Setup a virtual lab at home that you can legally hack/pentest to your heart's desire. Practice and exercises are the best way to learn. Google helps too. :) I think that's the best help you're going get.

Well you see, the thing is, I blatantly made the post seem malicious. As you said, only an idiot would ask how to, say, rob a bank and then say afterword "Just curious, not like I'm going to use this information for a heist"

I honestly didn't expect anyone here to truthfully tell me how to crack another person's ip on a server. This site is, quite obviously, a hacker website and not a cracker website. I was merely humoring myself and wanted to see what the responses would be. Jokes on you, thanks for the reply. : D

There are a number of ways to track users online, but their IP is usually dynamic, and can change often, not to mention, be behind a VPN, SSH tunnel or Proxy, etc. That said, I've deflowered a number of people here on the forums before, just to prove a point of how it can be done. Just have to use a little ingenuity and think how you will set up your mark to monitor.

Tracking is different from finding the ip of someone, the best way to track someone is to host ads or something like a google ad. an other thing to know when using google ads is knowning what the person likes and then presenting those ads to google and hope that they will look at load those ads.

another method is spam mail, yes i know spam mail can be droped if they have spam filter but if you host your own server just keep changing the domain name and ip address of the spam mail server.

But this you can use some phishing attacts to direct your spam. like adding a image file or embed a icon on the email once the person opens the email it will ask the server or icon link that is on your spam mail server. think you can setup a script to monitor the request for this icon and log the ip that requested it.

for Skype the best way to get the persons ip is by creating a udp session (video or audio traffic ) then all you have to do is check the connection on you tables for skype traffic under udp. you can google the default skype udp ports for this.

sometimes sending a link or making some click on a link to request for resourse from your server can also map there ip address.

But the best method is bind a trojan with a keygen this is one of the best way to get your listainer in to someones computer to track them.

First people always know that keygen will always be picked up by AV so the most common thing that most keygen ask to do is disable the AV

so that the keygen or cracker will have access to certain memory pointers. which is watched by AV to detect malware. but the person doesnt care about that

all they want is for the software to run with full access so they will just run the keygen. when they do it will also install your trojan.

but make sure that you hide your trojen from the AV when it is started again.,...

just be smart and dont make any stupied mistakes.
