deathwarder
Is there one that will work on a cluster? I am busy making a cluster and though it might be useful.
cooper
The generator appears to be single-threaded, but you can just run multiple instances of the program (though probably give each its own table to process). The clustering software will push the processes to the fastest servers available. In short: Pretty much anything will work on a cluster, but not everything will be able to benefit from using one. deathwarder
well multitasking will be better on a cluster right? Like I'll be able to have msword(crossover), rainbow generator, itunes(crossover), and quicktime all running at once on my soon to be 3 computer cluster right? a5an0
if you run either multiple processes, or multiple instances of the same process, then each node in the cluster will get asigned a different process. As for rtgen (rainbow table generator), as Cooper said, it is not muti threaded by default, so it will only run on one node (per instance)
deathwarder
thanks. I would like to know what distro you recommend for livecd clustering
cooper
Only one I've heard people talk about is Cluster Knoppix. People seemed happy with it.
deathwarder
does it require any setup?
cooper
I don't know as I haven't tried it myself, but the first thing that pops up in my mind is "duh!".
a5an0
I used ClusterKnoppix on my workstation 9master) and Chaos on my (slave) nodes. Chaos is only like 5 megs and uses little resources.
deathwarder
Does chaos configure itself? Or require vrey little configuration?
