WallE
Well I am posting my problem here because I am struggling with that since 4 day's and it's prevent me to go further in my research with the wifi pineapple. If you could tell me a step by step how you are setting your pineapple in tango mode it would be more than appreciated. Here's what I did step by step: I am going on each pineapple one at a time. On the first one: uci set network.lan.ipaddr=172.16.42.2uci commit networkrebootThan on the second pineapple that will be the gateway I type:uci set network.lan.gateway=172.16.42.1uci commit networkreboot Than pineapple 1 = 172.16.42.1Pineapple 2 = 172.16.42.2But I have big difficulty sharing internet. My setting = pineapple 1 + alfa + pineapple 2So I am setting pineapple 1 wlan0 and alfa wlan1 to connect to my home wifi by client mode. That's the only way I get a DHCP request, wlan0 alone can't get a DHCP request. Then I go to ICS and I share wlan1 to br-lan and pineapple 2 AP get internet but no internet in the UIPineapple one:POE / LAN Port: 172.16.42.1 USB 3G Modem: WAN / LAN Port:Public Internet: 111.328.24.324 Pineapple two: POE / LAN Port: 172.16.42.2 USB 3G Modem: WAN / LAN Port: 192.168.2.27Public Internet: Error Connecting What am I doing wrong? kpoeticg
I don't know if u made a typo, but on Darren's video he issue's both those uci commands on the 2nd pineapple. Not one on the 1st and one on the 2nd...
WallE
But let's say they are connected together through PoE lan. How can you access 1 or 2 they have the same link to the UI 172.16.42.
ibrokeit
When you change the ip of one to 172.16.42.2, you are "renaming" the router. That becomes the routers address on the network, therefore, the ui for that router will be at that ip.
deathdealerxx
You shouldn't make any changes on the 1st pineapple, all the changes made were to the "2nd" pineapple. The 2nd pineapple needs to have its ipaddr changed to 172.16.42.2 and set its gateway to 172.16.42.1 (the first pineapple's ipaddr) . You can change the SSID's of each pineapple to help identify. I'm going to order another pineapple soon, and will try to see if I can get this to work.
kpoeticg
When you run 2 Pineapples in Tango do u have to power them both by AC adapter or does the 2nd one run through the PoE port?
ibrokeit
You must power both.
kpoeticg
Damn. Do u know if grabbing a PoE box from the hakshop and powering that with the ac adapter would work around that?
deathdealerxx
I think you could power the first pineapple with ac or battery pack, then run the WAN/LAN ethernet to the input side of the injector and plug 12v into the injector then run another ethernet cable from the output on the injector to the POE/LAN port on the 2nd pineapple. I THINK> never used PoE. Plus I don't think I've seen any topics about PoE working/not working on the wifi pineapple. So it would be good to find out. :) Edited May 8, 2013 by deathdealerxx
kpoeticg
You'd still need a 2nd AC adapter for that scenario tho. On the hakshop it says the PoE adapter is designed for use with the Pineapple. I don't really see the point of it if u can't power 2 Pineapples with it though. It doesn't seem to add anything to it... I'm just trying to figure out the most space/cost effective way to turn my Pineapple into as much of a beast as possible. I made a post b4 I went to bed last night hoping to wake up to some feedback and for some reason it got moved to the 'Everything Else...' section instead I'm planning on ordering either a 2nd Pineapple, Raspberry Pi, or BeagleBone Black today to add some power to my Pineapple. Trying to figure out which would be the smartest decision Edited May 8, 2013 by kpoeticg

Trying to figure out which would be the smartest decision Well I have a raspberry Pi and IMHO is has a lot of problems when talking about stability. The main problem I had was the usb ports, almost anything you wanted to use had to be plugged into a powered usb hub.. Don't get me wrong the raspberry pi is a great little computer, but for pentesting/security idk about that at least in my situation. I'm sure there are some people who use the raspberry pi in conjunction with the pineapple and have no issues. You could route packets to the raspberry pi and run metasploit, or sslstrip, tcpdump, nmap, and all those fun tools. I would like to either try a beaglebone black board, or get another wifi pineapple (I'll prb end up getting both anyways lulz).. I would prob get another pineapple because it has the built in Atheros chip, wifi antenna, usb port. I don't have to go through the list, but I think it would look a lot neater and be easier to power and carry with you. Unless you have a usb hub and you want to power more than on device your more than likely going to need a 2nd ac adapter.. well technically is doesnt have to be a ac adapter, if you have one of those Anker 3 batteries. Just use the 12v port from the battery to the dc port on the injector. You' still prb need another battery though. But would be better than two ac adapters. kpoeticg
Yeah I already have a powered Dynex hub so i can use my Alfa and 4Gig Cruzer Fit. That's why I would love to keep extra AC adapters to a minimum. Maybe that's not an option though. Whichever I buy now (2nd Pineapple or Pi/BBone Black, or oDroid-x) I'll probly end up getting the other at some point. If the Raspberry Pi has stability issue's with the Pineapple then u just saved me a little money so thank you! Does 2 Pineapples in Tango have enough horsepower for SSLStrip/TCPDump/URLSnarf/Karma/Aircrack/NMap/MDK3/Ettercap/Deauth and whatever else? Well the Raspberry Pi doesn't have issues with the Pineapple. The Raspberry Pi has its own issues nothing to do with the pineapple. The main reason I wouldn't recommend the Raspberry Pi is because of its usb stability, (doesn't supply enough mA to the usb devices) only 140mA coming from those usb ports unless you do a voltage mod, other than that its a great device. That being said idk how well the RasPi would work with say an Alfa awus036nha radio. I'm not sure about Tango Mode, I myself don't have another Wifi Pineapple to test this with. I would think you could run Karma, Nmap, Urlsnarf and tcpdump on the first pineapple, then on the second you could run SSLstrip, Aircrack, MDK3, Ettercap, and use your alfa radio to deauth. kpoeticg
Yeah that would be kinda perfect if it could handle that. An external micro pc board would be nice for Metasploit purposes but if 2 Pineapples could handle most functions on their own that would be preferable to me. I guess I'll run some module tests on my 1 Pineapple today to try to get a better idea b4 ordering. Thanks for ur idea's/feedback deathdealerxx. U were real helpful!
