Hello,

I have a Dell xps with 8GB Ram, 500GB HDD, Core i7 model, running Backtrack 5R3 installed on Vmware Workstation 7, this model has two USB 3.0.Whenever i plug in Alfa Wireless card 802.11b/g Long Range Adapter Model : AWUS036H it gives me this annoying error, " USB device has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of its hub port,to reset try diconnecting hardware & click reset, click cancel & port will no longer function ", even after disconnecting its same error, i have tried 100 times,i have no clue whether its problem related with hardware of dell or alfa, please suggest me how to fix this problem.

your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Do you ever get the same error with any other equipment you plug into the same USB port?

On the surface it looks like your Alfa, for whatever reason, might be drawing too much power. If you do not get the same error with any other divices (e.g. external hard drives, etc) then it could be the Alfa itself. To help isolate the problem, do you have a powered USB hub you can try this with? Plug the powered hub in to your box, then plug your Alfa in to the hub. See if you still get the error.

I connect External Hard Drives, USB Drives, Wireless headsets , no problem with connectivity, but when i plug alfa i get this error. right now i don't have powered USB Hub, but i'll give it a try.
