Gold3n
I'm a field IT tech and sometime I need Internet on a PC isolated from the network or if that PC has an issue with his network adapter I can use a USB wifi adapter. The only thing that bugs me a little bit is having the driver on a separate cd or USB storage. I was wondering if there is any way to have the driver all in one device like the 3G keys that has the installer on an emulated CD when you plug the device for the first time Thanks
digip
I don't know if this was a prototype or if they ever actually made these, but if you can find one, let me know. Really old post - http://www.networkworld.com/weblogs/cool/archives/003631.html and I've never seen anything like it on the market for sale, other than people making their own with arduino and teensy kits. Gold3n
I found that old post too but didn't find any product related to what I'm looking for. I don't have any background in electronic so I would be pretty lost trying to build something like that on my own. I'm pretty sure that would be a nice feature for those company who sells wifi adapter to include the driver on board but I'm afraid nobody had that done so far :-/
silver-moonshine
Hey , i am an IT Technician , sometimes when i get laptops in my shop after a windows re-install i have a 4GB Flash drive with all my setup files on for a PC from scratch, sometimes i have issues with driver backup and cant back up drivers. What I do too resolve this is I copy my RA Link 802.11 folder on too the desktop from my Cruiser ... unplug my flash drive turn it around and on the other side is my wifi dongle so i can download the correct drivers for the LAN and wifi to plug into THE NETWORK :) ALL IN ALL , my solution is a small RA link 802.11 dongle with double sided tape and a USB Cruiser :) it may not bee the digital practical solution , but it gets me up and going :) and id rather not be messing with any of my Alfa's electronics :D
Gold3n
I see, bundle two piece of hardware with some glue could do it =) I'll try to see what they say at Startech
digip
A y cable or mini hub would work too, but if you are already carrying both a USB thumbdrive and the wifi card, kind of just adding more stuff to carry around. http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-USB-2-0-Port-Hub/dp/B005HKIDF2/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1355774453&sr=8-13&keywords=usb+y+cable
