Putty Help?

Not quite on the mark. You need an SSH sever on your home PC, you then need to give yourself a static IP on your LAN and in your router, forward port 22 to that IP. Then you need to either get your external IP address or setup a dynDNS account. You then run putty on your school computer, and connect to your external IP or address. If it all works, you now have command line access to your home PC, and therefore network.

Basically putty is a client, not a server. So you need a server to connect your client to.

There is actually an all-in-one installer for putty. Which you probally shouldn't try running at school. You just need to download putty.exe from the site, stick it on a flashstick and run it from that.

BTW, if your school admin is on the ball SSH might be blocked at your school. So try it from a mates house first.

Yeh shame my computer tutor knew to block all ports except 80 :-(

You don't want to use the standard version of putty on a flash-stick on other machines other than your own. It stores information in the registry which isn't then removed.

There is portaPutty for that job which stores that data in an XML file which can be stored on your flash drive.
