Mr-Protocol
Mr Protocol, you my friend deserve a beer. It was the settings for serial connections in putty, i did change it to 115200 but didnt change the flow control - thought it would take the windows settings! Also had to manually type it in as it kept giving kernal panic errors when pasting! Thanks for your help everyone! Congrats. What I actually did was copy/paste all the commands into notepad and was very careful when selecting them to paste in to PuTTY.
singh763173
Thats exactly what I did... although I did have to alter the first line in putty after I had pasted in, the quotation marks changed to full stops once pasted, so i deleted the full stops and changed it back to quotation marks. If i didnt, the console would drop into, "HUSH>" Just glad I got it figured out in the end lol
abxy007
thank you gentlemen both So...how do you flash the MKiv via USB-to-UART adapter?
Mr-Protocol
thank you gentlemen both So...how do you flash the MKiv via USB-to-UART adapter? Link in my signature says Clean Serial Flash A clean flash is only needed if uber brick or Hornet-UB Board because it does not come with openwrt already on it. If it has openwrt you only have to scp over the upgrade.bin and run it.

Mr-Protocol
What TFTP program are you using? If using MS Windows, turn off Windows and any other firewall you may have. Use a direct cable connection, not through a hub/router/switch. Also use the PoE port (Port closest to the power plug for DC).

WatskeBart
Also use the PoE port (Port closest to the power plug for DC). I think a little correction is needed in this post ;) Connect via the pineapples WAN/LAN port with your IP set to 192.168.2.11 You can flash on WAN/LAN port though but before scp'ing you need to switch to the PoE LAN port :)

I used the PoE port for everything in my video.

battletux
Could someone please link me the kernel.bin and root.fs for the initial flash as the links on the mk4 firmware page just give me a dropbox 404 page. Also the link on the alfa site for the hornet files (ftp:Â/Â/Â61.Â221.Â104.Â183/ÂDownload/ÂFirmware/ÂHornet-ÂUB.Âzip) is invaild too. Interestingly though, replace ftp with http and it takes you to a login page for a synology NAS. Edited May 11, 2012 by battletux

Sebkinne
ALFA ftp is working though ;) Sure but the cloud.wifipineapple.com site has all downloads in one place. I would say that is a plus :D

Sebkinne
One-Hundred Percent True Also, there will be a lot more content added to the cloud.wifipineapple.com site. Beta, module submission / preview (maybe), releases, development updates etc. Will be a lot of fun I hope.
WatskeBart
Will be a lot of fun I hope. I sure sounds like a lot of fun. I really like that the pineapple platform is getting more and more mature each day. Also are you planning a real onsite wiki, instead of github's one? I'm getting way off topic here :P
Whistle Master
For those who are interested to use a usb-serial adapter on Mac OS X: I bought a PL2303HX from Prolific Technology Inc. I found mine here. The drivers are available for OS X: md_PL2303_MacOSX10.6_dmg_v1.4.0.zip I'm using the application ZTerm to communicate through the adapter. Happy flash with OS X :P
starbuck28
Just got my USB2.0 TTL UART 6pin serial CP2102 adapter. So not to brick the AP I want to have confirmed the correct wiring/connection. AP 121U <-> USB UART VDD -----> 3.3V RX -----> RXD TX -----> TXD GND -----> GND Is this connection correct? Do I need to connect VDD with 3.3V or can I leave it? It seems that my board is a newer revision. The capacitor near to the GPIO pins isn't there like on the picture from Mr-Protocol. /edit: I just realized they made a wrong delivery! I got a AP121 without USB. So it's clear why the capacitors are missing. So I have to sent it back and wait for the right AP121U with usb-port. :( /edit But I think the GPIO Pins are still the same. I would be thankful for a short feedback. Edited June 9, 2012 by starbuck28
