anexny
I'm looking for recommendations for a web host, something like a Westhost, Bluehost, etc. I just need something inexpensive for clients who have very basic, but reliable, PHP-based hosting needs, preferably with competent tech support (who I'll hopefully never need to contact). I need something managed, so VPS is out (the last thing I need is another server to admin!). Anyone have recommendations? Thanks!
anexny
It'd be super great if I could edit that post to fix the typo in the topic line. Oh well... Edited February 21, 2012 by anexny
Infiltrator
These web hosting service providers seem good. Obs, the typing mistake doesn't bother me too much. http://www.mydomain.com/hosting/ http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml Edited February 21, 2012 by Infiltrator
spy3mo
HostGator or GoDaddy are decent. Do not use Bluehost shared hosting considering their has been instances in the past when users developed a working Symlink 403 bypass :|
anexny
Thanks for the tips, guys. HostGator might be a possibility. Don't know about GoDaddy... they're... slimy. Even if you discount the whole SOPA thing which took place a month or so ago, I think I'm done with them for new registrations and services. I'll look into Mydomain, too. I'm following this topic, so if anyone else has suggestions, I'd love to hear it.
digip
Personally, I would stay away from 1and1, Hostgator and GoDaddy. Dreamhost is my personal choice for affordability and shell access, unlimited domains under single hosting account+cost per domain name/year, but you don't have to go with them. If you want dedicated, single IP hosting with control over the configuration of the machine itself with colocation/redundancy services, then Rackspace - http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/cloud_hosting_products/servers/pricing/ Edited February 21, 2012 by digip
Batmonkey
Lunarpages.com is a great webhosting company. I am currently getting my VPS from them as well as managing a few dedicated servers. The support I have gotten from their support team is far better them when I was with godaddy.
