M.Lightning Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 For some reason when I have Karma active it doesn't capture any clients. Are there any common reasons for this? Here is my karma config file: # config file to use with the Karma'd version of hostapd # created by Robin Wood - robin@digininja.org - www.digininja.org interface=wlan0 driver=nl80211 ssid=internet channel=1 # both open and shared auth auth_algs=3 # no SSID cloaking ignore_broadcast_ssid=0 logger_syslog=-1 logger_stdout=-1 logger_syslog_level=2 logger_stdout_level=2 dump_file=/tmp/hostapd.dump ctrl_interface=/var/run/hostapd ctrl_interface_group=0 # 0 = accept unless in deny list macaddr_acl=0 # only used if you want to do filter by MAC address #accept_mac_file=/etc/hostapd/hostapd.accept deny_mac_file=/etc/hostapd/hostapd.deny # enable karma enable_karma=1 Thanks for any help. Mr-Protocol Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 What version of firmware are you using? Have you read the Wiki and FAQ? (Link in signature) Quote
M.Lightning Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 I just got it so it has been made up to date right from the HakShop. Karma is on and makes a SSID that I named. It is just when I test it on device that doesn't have any known networks around, the device doesn't connect to the pineapple. Quote
telot Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 My first suggestion would be to have a wifi card in monitor mode wiresharking to see what's really happening. Another thought, what device are you using to test with? My HTC Evo never sees saved open ssids from the pineapple for some reason, but my lenovo laptop does just fine, but only on boot up - my other dell laptop sees att_wifi (a saved open wifi on the machine) all the time. I suspect different wifi modules handle probe requests and responses differently. Try some other devices perhaps? telot Quote

Not sure if the HakShop is using the most current firmware compiled by Sebkinne (1.9) or if they are still using 1.02 firmware. I would suggest flashing to 1.9 firmware. M.Lightning Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 The firmware is the latest. I only have iDevices at my disposal at the moment to test it. It seems that the new iPhone and Lion seem to avoid getting snagged. Quote
Sebkinne Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Lightning, The latest batch from the hakshop has my 1.9, but there isn't any way for you to check. There will be in 2.0. I tried with a lion machine and it works for me.. Best, Sebkinne Quote
M.Lightning Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Thank you all for the replies. I will test further and see if it is me or the pineapple. I might reflash just for the fun of it. Thanks, M. Lightning Quote
