DLSS
ok so i 've been experimenting today ..... i built a trojan with a ancient builder i used the cia 1.3 wich is detected by every antivir .... now remember back in the day we had things called packers/binders ? i found a old one and started experimenting. first i sacanned and it found the trojan, then i packed it and it sayd it was safe (wile its a antique packer ...) so ok maby its my antivir product .... so i putthe file on 2 online multi scanner .... (wich scans with multiple antivirus products and gives u the stats) and im amazed by the result ... : http://virusscan.jotti.org/File: Server.exe Status: OK MD5 : cade95cb61d09675d373b8334cec677d Packers detected: - Scanner results http://www.virustotal.comFile size: 1536 bytes MD5: cade95cb61d09675d373b8334cec677d SHA1: bce4d8036021a2b279cd1e38225f69cb82686a93 result : http://www.virustotal.com/vt/en/resultadof...2b0d9bfb50eac5b

moonlit
Those online scans are crap... I tried a few files that I knew were virii... AVG agreed with me too and the online scans I tried (I don't remember which ones) found nothing...

leetabix
Hmm, didn't see Zone Alarm on the list-Steve Gibson always sings its praises, tried that?
moonlit
You mean the Zone Alarm firewall that isn't designed to detect viruses?
Sparda
Zone Alarm offer Anti-Virus as part of there sofware now. Admitadly it is there most exspencive version, but it you want all-in-one Anti-Virus, Firewall and general malware protection it's kind of the ideal thing (it's better then nortons crap any way). It's still very bloated though...
moonlit
Ooh cool, I wasn't aware of that, sorry leetabix! I'd heard of Anti-Spyware though, didn't think that was the right program though.... and I believe the actual company name is Zone Labs isn't it? ;) That's just me being picky though ;)
Sparda
Ye, it is zonelabs, the two terms are vertualy interchangable though ;) http://www.zonealarm.com http://www.zonelabs.com
cooper
These days I'm recommending F-Secure to the Windows-using relatives. It too combines antivir with firewall, and does so quite nicely it seems. Haven't had any complaints so far, and it's MUCH faster than Norton.
