billyblaxsta Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 We know that the Jasager pretends to be the unencrypted SSID that the client is trying to connect to. But - what I am wondering - is why would the client connect to the Jasager when the client will no doubt receive a response from the genuine AP. In other words: what factors are important in ensuring that the client connects to the Jasager rather than its real AP? (I am assuming we have an unencrypted network). Would not the power of the Jasager be less than a (perhaps nearer) real AP for example? Quote
digininja Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Clients connect to the strongest signal. You can also send deauthentication messages pretending to be the real AP to try to drive the client to the fake AP Quote
billyblaxsta Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011 I am on the sixth floor and I note that clients looking for networks (which are not in my building) sometimes connect to the Fon. Presumably - the reason I am the strongest signal - is because the AP they are looking for is not in the vicinity hence I am the strongest. Quote
digininja Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 ye, your signal trumps no signal from the real AP Quote
