So im moving a bunch of server shares from our one print server (2003 x86) to each individual locations local server (2008 R2 x64). anyone have any ideas or scripts they can throw my way to make this easier?

Microsoft has a tool called Printer Migrator and you can download it directory from this link

nice tool... will it work on 2008 R2 though?

I haven't tried, but it should work. This utility basically copies all the drivers, all the printer shares to a single archive file. All you have to do then is run it on the PC you are migrating the printers to.

For the most part we have the 64 bit drivers for each type of printer. we have been doing x64 windows 7 deployments slowly and already added the drivers.

well it backed everything up into a bin just fine. cant seem to restore the settings on another server for some reason though

What happens when you try to restore the settings on another server? Does it give a warning or error message?

no. it seems to restore everything but the shares dont appear on the server
