Sata/sas Controller Card. Ideas?

My RAID controller cards are on their way out. One died and the other scares me.

The manufacturer is no longer in business so support is non-existent.

I'm looking for a new PCI Express card with about 8 drives supported.

I'm looking at Supermicro's AOC-SASLP-MV8 as it's almost exactly what I want.

I don't need hardware raid (plan is to use software), have some SFF8087 SAS to 4 port SATA cables (which work great),and my MOBO has up to 3 PCI-E x16 slots that are open. Currently running Win Server 2008, but I'm considering Linux.

Any suggestions for cheap/compatible cards?
