CaveMan
yes yes i know, this question has been asked millions of times... but not by me :D Im going to format my laptop and install linux, so my question is What linux should i install? Basically i need a CaveMan friendly GUI and i would prefer if it came with everything i may need (for cracking, expecially WEP) and a compilier that does c++
Sparda
What are the hardware specs of the laptop? SuSE Linux is realy easy to use, but it's rather bloated, the minimum requierments are very much the same to Windows XPs.
rFayjW98ciLoNQLDZmFRKD
Ubuntu is a nother good choice
VaKo
If XP works for you, so will suse. Its a good OS if your new to linux.

degoba
Same thing. Novell purchased the suse project sometime back. I personally dont really like suses package management. My two suggestions are fedora core 5, and ubuntu.
CaveMan
so does suse cost money?

CaveMan
nvm, read more carefully, novell are selling tech support not the OS :P
RobotChild
The pay version does have some non-free apps doesn't it? I know the OpenSuSE only has open-source stuff.
Sparda
It comes with non-free stuff. Mostly all codecs for all videos. Flash player 7 (ugh, when will it catch up? Windows and Mac have Flash 9 now!). It will not of course play encypted DVDs as that would violate the DMCA, you have to install an aditional codec (I forget it's name) to play encypted DVDs. RobotChild
I see. My Dad bought me SuSE 9.0 way back when. I'm using 10.1 tweaked to my taste/Dual boot XP right now. I think I may try another Distro though.
stingwray
I'll vote for Suse as I feel its the best distro to start with as I dislike both Fedora and Ubuntu.

metatron
If you just want to crack some WEP, just get Aircrack and Airsnort for your windows box.
