Ace McSpades
Hey all. I have a 200 gb external HDD that I have been using for quite some time now. It has worked fine all the time up until now. When I plug the device into my computer, the drive's power light goes on, and I can dear it humming, but it is not recognized by the computer. When I go into my computer, all that shows up is my C drive. I have also tried the drive in a Mac, to no avail. Im an extremely confused here. Thanks in advance, Ace. Sparda
It's possible that USB controller for the drive had died/become loose. Open the case and make sure it's all tightly seated. if this fails, plug the drive directly into a motherboard (using SATA or IDE or what ever it is) and see if the drive still works that way. Ace McSpades
That was the solution. Thanks so much, you really saved me there :D ! I would have lost ALOT of stuff. I never would of thought to check if the cable input was loose. Thanks alot. I have learned my lesson, and will completely backup my backup. lol Thanks ACE
