Coders will like this

Oh wow, that was pretty funny. I agree with you about lisp, but I believe VB should be further to the bottom, and how the hell is cobol even on there? I havn't seen that language used since the late-eighties/early nineties. (Sad part is that I have to take a semester course on it next year for my degree).

Cobol is still used for a lot of bank mainframes. You are right though... It is very old. Then again, so is C.

I was talking to a woman who works on bank mainframes last year some time. She said a lot of the programs have copyright notices for 1982 in the comments

The cobol stuff works just fine. I'm actually being told that there's an increase in demand for Cobol programmers. Financial institutions (which is what my part of the company tends to cater to) need to update their programs every so often to either include new laws and regulations, or simply in order to introduce a new product.

Trust me, Cobol isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Makes me feel better. If I have to pay around 400 bucks (us) for a cobol class, I better be able to use it in a real world setting or be more desirable to an employer because it was part of my college experience.

perl programmers usually do feel superor to python programmers. Personally I like python better. (standard bittorrent client is in python. It susck, but no body did it with per, I guess)

This is halarious.

However, I am a firm believer of using the correct tool for the job. You can't use LISP and ASM for everything, heh. But it's certainly true that LISP coders are rather pompous. Of course, I'm a C nut, and I have (from time to time) talked shit on C++ among other languages, haha so I can't really talk.
