the area in my house is lonley from the rest the wifi didnt reach and I needed more hard lines so instead on buying an extender for the wifi or a switch to get more port I had a extra router so I hooked that up, hey why not i hit two birds with one stone. but now I upgraded the cable boxes in my house to tivo which can communicate with each other but that is nhot possible when they are on different networks so is there a way that I can have my D-Link DI-524 act pretty much as if it was just an access point and switch

If you are looking for wireless coverage, you could have router 2 connect to router 1 to extend the wifi as a mesh.

Two ways you could achieve that, through wire or through bridging mode.
