Sparda Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 The stupid easy way: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER! Running a web server can be dangerous, particularly if you don't keep it and it's surrounding features up to date (PHP, MySQL etc.). Quote
BattZ Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Do you have a static IP, or a service like DynDNS set up? Quote

Infiltrator Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 i have a static ip sorry i wasnt able to comment coz i was in a hospital with a broken arm Since you have a static ip address, you could by your own domain at domain.com. Or use dyndns.com to sign up for a free subdomain. And that's what I use at the moment for my webserver home. On a side note, if you plan in using dyndns make sure your adsl modem support dynamic ip address. Quote
wheeee Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 On a side note, if you plan in using dyndns make sure your adsl modem support dynamic ip address. DynDNS has a tool that can update your IP it uses. http://www.dyndns.com/support/clients/ Quote

VaKo Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Ubuntu Server is pretty simple to setup, you just configure it as a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PERL/PHP) server during install. There is also FreeBSD, which is a bit more manual but I like it: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/04/09/i...d-php-5-part-1/ http://www.freebsdmadeeasy.com/ Quote
iisjman07 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I setup a fedora web server and it was surprisingly easy, I just googled for a tutorial and burnt a fedora cd Quote
