Pineapple Linux Setup?

Recommended Posts

:( please help me out here. im totally lost and cant seem to find a good detailed write up on how to get this working esp on linux. every thing i find is for certain problems here an there or how to install jasager on the router. i have a pineapple from hak5 so i dont need to flash nothing. i have various programs installed, ettercap, wireshark (which is the new ethereal i believe).

so can some one PLEASE set me up with some DETAILED instructions starting from step one on exactly what to do? PLEASE! by detailed i mean dont say like connect to the pineapple then blah blah blah...tell me how to connect to the pineapple. dont say change your IP then blah blah blah. how do i change my IP and to what etc...see on the video s01e03 he says where gonna do an nmap scan an sense i allready know your IP im gonna do it this way blah blah blah. but what if i dont know the IP. things like that i need to know.

sorry for all this. i normally wouldnt be asking for help like this but im desperate and totally lost, and iv had this pineapple for too long now, and my head hurts an its turning to mush for reading so much an not finding anything.

this is my setup. i will be using the pineapple with my EeePC on ubuntu. the wifi im using is my home router. i have another laptop i will be using that will be the "victim". so just pretend you have a laptop with ubuntu and a pineapple and the mentioned programs installed. whats next? hurry before i shoot myself.

thanks.

i just did all this and still dont know what to do. i try connecting to the http://192.168.1.1 in my browser an it just connects me to my linksys router. but it did that before what i set up the ICS like in the link.

That seems overly complicated link. And I think you might need to brush up on some Networking skills a bit before trying to implement MITM attack with the jasager.

You need to hook to it with a crossover cable. you are probably trying to telnet your linksys router. If your pineapple is plugged into your linksys, and you didnt change the IP on your pineapple, everytime you try to hit 192.168.1.1 you will hit your linksys due to they both have the same IP and the pineapple will have an IP conflict and not connect to the network.

i believe so. i never set anything.

edit: if i ifconfig

eth0 is on 192.168.0.1

wlan0 is on 192.168.1.1

both have the same subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

trying to telnet to 192.168.0.1 says the same thing.

in network connections if i change the auto eth0 to 192.168.1.1 it changes back to 192.168.0.1 no matter what.

so you have your netbook on 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 and you are trying to telnet to the Fon on 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1, that will cause you problems, you'll be connecting to yourself.

You need to put yourself on an IP that is different to the Fon but on the same subnet.

Not as a put down but I suggest you do some reading up on basic networking before carrying on. You'll need it when you start getting deeper into things with Jasager and will make your life a lot easier as you'll understand what is going on better.

ok. no i dont take it as a put down. i dont know much about networking but im learning. iv got books im reading and i start school in IT in spring. trying to get this working is also part of the learning process. i just want to get it working cause i paid $100 for it an i dont want it to sit there an become maybe obsolete if some new security comes around before i get to even use it.

If you learn your way around a basic class C network setup, DNS, DHCP, subnet masks and all that stuff then it will make your network exploration much more fun and easy. At the moment, even if you get Jasager working you'll not be able to do much with it as you won't know what you can do.

There isn't much chance of it going out of fashion any time soon, 802.11 is here to stay and people will always be connecting to open wifi and telling their software to remember the connections.

If you can get your hands on 3 machines and a switch/router to play with then that will really help. You can set different IPs, play with routes etc. Just make sure you can put them back to working after if you've borrowed them, family tend to get annoyed when their machines don't work after your experimentation.
