Koil_1
For a long time now I have had my old phones collecting dust. There has to be a way to root them and make them into handheld computers. I have searched the web extensively over the years. I have also polled the info through the console using a lsusb command with the -v flag piped into less. The information varies through different models of course. The only working handset that I have is an older 8130 Pearl so I can't compare notes between the returns of others at this point. I would like to launch a community project to root this little bugger, develop software, and produce what will basically be a handheld computer for those of us who don't want to pay extra for a PalmPilot or some other god aweful priced thing that does almost exactly the same functionality that I believe we can achieve with a light Linux kernel. And I'd love to play DOOM on it... Maybe even Quake if it can be done. The problem is that I don't know enough about that kind of programming because I don't have access to the hardware descriptors like I would on a computer BIOS. Since I am unfamiliar with the platform I decided to ask for help like any other smart geek would do. That is those of us who are smart enough to know when we're in over our heads. I have made past attempts on previous models and wound up bricking them. Any input would be greatly appriciated.
