Charles
Simple questions I guess. I'm thinking about buying a PS3 to replace my monster of an HTPC which I've got running Win Vista and using Windows Media Center. Anyway, what I cannot seem to find out is if the PS3 can access media, ripped dvds in this case, from a regular SMB share. Thanks. :)

There is plenty of ways to set this up via google search. For me: Open Windows Media Player Top left-ish has a "Stream" drop down. Click that and go "More Streaming Options" Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Media streaming options <-- should pop up Click through all that stuff and configure how you wish. After that you just scan for media servers with your PS3 if it doesn't show up already. This is for Win7 btw. Charles
I found a lot of stuff for Windows, but not much for a Linux NAS, unfortunately. I ordered the PS3, and if it doesn't work out, I can always return it. :)

Charles
Thanks. Looks like MediaTomb will be one of the top choices.
