John C
I was thinking of starting to put together a paintball sentry gun, but i dont no any coding and was wondering would it be possible to run it all off a microcontroller? this is the website i got the project from, here Thanks for reading. John Triggering something is easy but if you want target tracking that's fairly intensive, you would need something fairly fast. If you want easy, just build a laser trigger and have the gun just pan left to right. Edited April 24, 2010 by metatron
requiem
I'm pretty sure you could run what you're talking about off a Parallax Propeller. Pretty easy to learn the language too.
bunsen
Yeah I think I saw a project with motion sensor hooked up to your computer on Lifehacker, Makezine or something like that so it shouldn't be too hard to do it with an arduino or something simliar. I've been messing with building a sentry also. I've found that all the micro controller options end up being really cr@ppy and useless. you need a computer to do image processing. micro controllers are only good for basic simple stuff. image processing is the opposite of basic and simple. i ended up going with the sentry project software because after almost a year of messing with the other options out there, everything else turned out to be useless when you actually try to use it for practical purposes.. like when you need it to actually engage targets accurately. it's easy to think that it's simple but it is far from simple.
