Guest Deleted_Account Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 (edited) Is there any tool that will take the BT4 iso and 'burn' it to usb? Windows or (ubuntu)linux Windows Unetbootn (sorry for the speeling lol i dont use it as it never works for me but others recommend it) or Live USB creator (also does persistence for you too. linux => good old DD command as in: dd if=/{insert path/to/iso/here} of=/dev/{insert device here} the device can be found in Disk utility if you dont know it. Oh and make sure you run dd from root :P (as a side note dd wont work for me with bt4 FINAL it wont make it bootable :s could just be my iso though :P) ADD: As a side note if you want and encrypted install (using linux) go here: Back-Track 4 Final Encrypted install USB Edited April 19, 2010 by x942 Quote
bunsen Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 does the DD command include persitance or just makes it bootable? Live USB creator (also does persistence for you too. I can't get the Linux Live USB creator to make the drive bootable Quote
Inked Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Go with Unetbootin. It is very straight forward... http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ Quote
digip Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 (edited) does the DD command include persitance or just makes it bootable? I can't get the Linux Live USB creator to make the drive bootable Cant make it bootable because your machine wont boot off it, or because it tells you it cant make it bootable? Try it in a different machine and see what happens. Your machine might not be able to boot off USB(check your bios or boot menu order) Edited April 20, 2010 by digip Quote
