Pineapple Mark 2 And Internet Connectivity.

Recommended Posts

I followed the guide on the wiki (yay it's back up!).

Everything went smoothly, but I cannot access the internet from a machine connected to the pineapple. (I manually associated with it, since my router has a stronger signal.) I can access the pineapple's web interface.

Anyway: The host that is running ISC is a machine running XP SP3.

Right now I've got an Alfa AWUS036NH set up as the "Atheros" in the tutorial and an Alfa AWUS036 set up as the "Alfa."

Alfa is shared per the tutorial with the following (associated with my AP):

IP: 192.168.1.30

Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 192.168.1.1

I can access the internet from that machine.

Atheros is set like so:

IP: 192.168.0.1

Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: None

DNS: 8.8.8.8

DNS: 8.8.4.4

Atheros is connect to the pineapple.

The pineapple is set like so:

SSID: Pineapple

IP: 192.168.0.250

Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: None

DNS: None

If I do an ipconfig /all on a machine (my netbook connected wirelessly) I get this:

IP: 192.168.0.147

Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.0.250

DNS: 192.168.0.250

Did I miss a step somewhere or is it because the stuff on the wiki is a bit dated?

Thanks.

Apparently, I had to change some stuff on the DHCP server on the Pineapple. I changed the "Router" setting to point to the NIC that was shared, but right now, it's using that as the DHCP server, not the DHCP server on the pineapple.

I have internet access, but it's not exactly what I want.
