BlueWyvern
So I'd like to know what software tools you don't leave home without. Be it a collection of tools such as Trinity Rescue Kit or a single portable exe like ComboFix. a friend of mine carries geek squad MRI and thinks it's the holy grail, and therefore all he needs. Me? I prefer not to use something thats not gonna expire and make me hunt for updates. I'm interested to see whats out there and what others use. thanks
Charles
Mostly just my multipass with a bunch of stuff on it. It has gotten me out of a few things, even if I don't use it all that much in everyday work.

Also, from what I hear, CombFix has a back door in it and tends to make invalid changes to the registrys networking setup. It tries to put reg keys to some defaults, but if you patched or manually config reg settings, it tries to reset them and tends to create problems. I never used it, but I know some people that hosed their machine because of it. I keep a list of portanle apps on a few thumbdrives, like UBCD4WIN, some virus scanners, ntpassword reset tools, backtrack, scp/sftp and ssh stuff, portable browsers like Opera, FF and Chrome, winrar, and stuff of that nature. VaKo
1 contract phone, 2 company phones, all SIM free and you can get PAYG SIMs for free these days (although Orange only do 3G SIM cards by request if your PAYG).
moonlit
I have 2 HSDPA modems and a smartphone (all unlocked), also with SIM cards for all major UK networks, PAYG is very convenient for network switching. Internet practically anywhere is really quite useful, as an example I did a laptop repair for someone just the other day and ran my phone as a wifi access point to activate Windows because there was no internet connection available.
