Parth Modi Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hey Guys, I don't know about you guys, but i enjoying rocking out to some music while i'm programming. But lately i'm getting tired of the same songs that i have. I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations or good playlists on one of those music streaming sites (grooveshark, pandora). Thanks! Quote
d4ud1 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I love a bit of Chopin.. or maybe some Depeche Mode. Also Brian Eno's Music for Airports is pretty good. Quote
ansichild Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I'm a bedroom DJ and into electronic dance music. Here's a little to get you started... http://www.garethemerypodcast.com http://www.thethrillseekers.co.uk/podcast/ http://www.andymoor.com/moormusic.rss http://www.myonandshane54.com/id/podcast.xml and of course you can find a zillion tunes on... http://www.beatport.com/ If you enjoy electronic music that should take care of you for a while I would say. :) Quote
dr0p Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) Well, what kind of music do you like? Can't recommend anything without a base. Edit: House, hard house, electro house, hardcore, speedcore, gabber, breakcore, jcore, hardstyle, jumpstyle, and dubstep are all pretty good genres of electronic music. H@L0_F00 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I personally haven't been able to stop listening to hardcore techno, hard trance, and gabber since I discovered them. Hardcore being what I listen to most often. di.fm is a great place to look around for new music. They have quite a few free streaming channels by sub-genre. Hardcore, hard trance, and gabber are what I prefer listening to when I'm doing... just about anything. It's so upbeat and exciting. It makes me feel great, even when I'm feeling pretty down, and it helps me concentrate, although sometimes I get to into the music that I listen so intently I can't concentrate long enough to do whatever it was I was doing. In that case, I just put on some trance, which is a little less intense. Quote
h3%5kr3w Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Well I am personally into the hard house mixed with trance, and industrial techno-rock/metal ie. like Nine Inch Nails (btw, seems Trent is coming out with an album soon. Everyone on that site is confused cause they don't know if it's NIN as a regular album, a 'ghosts' album(mostly instrumental/no lyrics), or what Trent said before the last NIN tour was over which was that the next thing that comes out is going to be "something not nine inch nails" I find myself to be getting into a lot of hip hop these days too. Really helps me keep focus. Also a few that might help you out (but im sure you have heard before if your into hip hop/tech-rap) is the black eyed peas, some old school digital underground, that new york song that just came out with alicia keys and what's his name :P just to name a few. Also a newer chick that I listen to lately is La Roux. She likes to cover a lot of 80's tech/rock and um.. prince.. yeah. but it sounds good when she sings it :P Quote
VaKo Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I like the Hospital Records Podcast, lots of chilled drum & bass. But in all honesty it comes down to what music you like, if your a fan of opera, j-pop or Belgian electro-folk ragga, then listen to that. Radio 1 (in the UK) also has a lot of decent stuff on in the evenings, although the daytime stuff is shite, so either use iPlayer or download some stuff via torrents. Quote

slayer9019 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Dubstep is awesome (try Sierre Leon Mt. Eden) Hardstyle is good too but can be a bit much over extended periods of time (for me at least) Quote

Thanks! That depends on what genre of music you enjoy to listen to. I personally prefer hardcore musics. They help boost my concentration. But if you enjoy a bit of everything, I would recommend them for you. Scar Symmetry Nocturnal Rites Sonyc Syndicate Metallica Kill Switch Engage Sentenced Edited April 9, 2010 by Infiltrator Quote
